maintenance costs on a srt-6
Are they typical of most cars or much more expensive since it is basically a Mercedes? How reliable are they, are parts crazy expensive and what about oil changes, are they as simple as they are on any car or is there some special crazy mercedes tool that is required lol?

Maintenance can be expensive, but it is a proven powertrain.
8.5 quarts of Mobil 1 per oil change. The oil filter is ~$18.00 (it is a cartridge/fleece type).
12 spark plugs.
It is a hand-built engine, so expect parts/pieces to be fairly expensive.
Most of these cars and the SLK32/C32s seem pretty reliable.

How often does the timing belt need changed and is it a interference motor or non interference?
Thanks!
also, will 17" wheels clear on the rear wheels? I plan to run drag radials at the track

Oil Change - $120 (Dealer) $70 (DIY) this is very convinenat because in the crossfire the oil filter is located on top so you never have to pick up the car.. just the drain the oil through the dip stick using a vaccum pump...
Tires - ~$1000 for decent tires such as the Goodyear Eagle GS-D3s, However numerous people on the forum have been skimping on tires and buying such things as Kumho Escata..
Filters - Cabin Filter $40, Oil Filter $17, Air Filter probably around $40...
Brake pads - $225
Spark Plugs - likely over $100

Or call Smith Motor Co. Mercedes in Charleston and ask them about getting it done on a SLK32 or C32.

I don't see why the timing belt would concern you... unless you plan on using an undampened pulley.. the stock or aftermarket pullies will very unlikely shred the belt and well... what else could happen to it? and if I remmber correctly it is no more than a couple hundred dollars anyways..
The typical maintance schedule on this car is pretty dilusional.. they suggest 7k mile oil changes, but everytime I changed mine at 3.5k it just looked filthy.. they also suggest changing the cabin filter WAYYYY to often... I pulled mine out at 25k thats way over their suggested time and it was prefectly clean.. Yet they suggest the tranny fluid changed only once at 80k? I am going to change it at 50k and they don't suggest changing the differential fluid, but that should be changed a long with tranny fluid as well..

$179 for an oil change here. However, my dealership treats me like gold. I don't mind paying the higher rates if I'm being treated like a Mercedes owner. They have done anything and everything I needed, down to the smallest detail. I'm getting new wheels due to the "Spider crazing" when the oil is changed.
