Default I need your opinions...

Ok, the time has come where i must get my car into the dealer for service. I need to know what you guys think I should and should'nt tell the dealer to fix. Some are obvious, but others not so much.....After taking my brother(he's a long time auto tech for GM so he knows the business) for a ride in the SRT6 and telling him my issues with the car, he told me to live with some of these issues because they would be ripping my car apart to find the issue. He said they probably know very little about this car. I don't want that. I want whomever is working on the car to KNOW what the problems are and how to fix them, but that is only my wishful thinking. Anyone that wants to share their experience with the dealer for any of these issues is greatly appreciated. Anyway, here is the list of my issues........

1. Fog light cap(passenger side)
2. Headlights(fogged)
3. Something in the rear rattles when going over rough surfaces(Hatch??)
4. Drivers side seat(bottom part) heater not working.
5. Wind noise from drivers side window.
6. Passenger side window(when down) rattles in the door.
7. For months I have had a "clicking" fan noise inside the dash somewhere. When I put the fans on, it sounds like something is stuck in the fan? Although yesterday, for the first time, I didn't hear it anymore

Thanks!

Does your dealer have a Crossfire tech? You can call and find out.
If they do, I'd tell them about everything. There are some TSBs for a couple of those I believe.
Good luck.

There was a post on the hatch rattle. I think it said there was a TSB for a replacement latch with a rubber coating but the poster recommended a couple wraps of black electrical tape first.

in response to one of your issues... the headlight fogging.... are you talking about a visible moisture inside the headlamp assembly, or simply a "foggy" headlight with a film on the outer plastic...

as for moisture issue i cannot say that i have a convenient and easy remedy for it, however if it is just a film on the outside of the headlamp the do in fact make a product specifically designed to renew old headlights. check autozone or napa if that is the issue.

the rattling when the window is down may be coming from a loosening of the bolts that hold the window to the motor. thus when it is up, it is secured against the seal of the window and does not audibly rattle. but when the window is in the door it has no seal to press against and therefore rattles. this is a somewhat easy fix if this is the problem. all it would consist of is removing the door panel and, with the window up, tightening the bolts holdin the window to the motor... generally a 10mm nut i believe.

See, thats the thing. Im not exactly sure if it's fogging on the inside or not. I would assume it is because when i wash the car it gets worse. I have used the plastX product. It cleans and polishes decent, but i still have that "cloudy" look on the top edge of the headlights.

well the only way i can tell you to discover whether the fogging is on the inside or out is to, the next time you wash your car or it rains, run your finger/hand/whatever over the outside of the headlight... if it clears up it is the outside, if not it is on the inside . if it is on the outside maybe something like rainx would help prevent that though im not sure.

Many crossfire headlights "fog" on the outside and require a light sand/buff. If you search it i think theres a how-to in the technical section.

There was a post about adding a small piece of velcro to the trunk area to stop the rattle or motion noise. I did it and it worked, think the the post was from one of the regulars, do a search. Might be form Brian Brave , he adds lots of ideas and information to the forum, just not sure..........

Ok, so now I'm a bit upset! I took the car the car in this morning for service. They call me back and tell me that the only thing that is covered under my warranty is the blower motor for the ac/heater. All the other issues are not covered! Wtf? I have the extended 70k warranty.....I dont understand. I thought it basically extended the factory warranty, but I guess not.

Todd64 checks in here from time to time and he would know the answer of what is covered and what is not. He has set up alot of people on here with extended warranties.

Distant pulse,
I may be able to help a bit with the wind noise on the DS window. That would drive me nuts for sure.

Have someone sit in the drivers seat and then take compressed air and blow towards the top of the window to see if you can tell where the leak is exacly.

Once you figured out where the leak is, you can purchase some, and I can't remember what it's called but it is half the diameter of a pencil and is black and sticky. You pull the weatherstipping loose and place this "sticky spacer" behind the weather stripping to tighten up the lose spot.

You should be able to buy this stuff at a local autoparts store. It should be a quick and easy fix from there...should work on the Xfire with a bit of trying...anything better than wind noise in your ear when you are trying to enjoy a drive.

I will look up the stuff is called a post back in a bit.

This was on the LS1 Tech website, not sure how well it translates to the Xfire, but the principals should be there, i.e. fore and aft adjustments.
http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8815775
However, if you have one spot on the middle of the window, probably won't help too much.
I will keepp looking.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
KrzyFast
