Default Cold Air Intakes

Any suggestions for a cold air intake with a significant difference in Hp and Tq and also makes the engine bay look nice???

It depends on your definition of "nice".

If you are interested in maintaining a factory appearance, stick with the SL55 AMG intake conversion.

For pure performance, and a "ricer" look, (I admit it) I recommend the Needswings Intake.

To look pretty and a little performance boost just put k&n's or the sl55 intake .

For performance so far nobody can duplicate other than copying the intake is the needswings intake.

Mine is SSB so the intake matches perfectly.

Couple of good reads -

See post #36 - 39 for dyno results

Here is a link to my SL55 intake mod https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=20009

You will find others who have install this mod as well - just search.

Spectre systems sells modular parts for around $125 for the DIY http://www.spectreperformance.com/#CATALOG

Operating without limitations, my suggestion is having something custom made, with dual oval pipes made of 3" aluminum with mandrel bends, ceramic coated flat black. Include 2 K&N cone filters mounted behind the grill, the radiator support will need to be "modded" to clear these pipes.

The iron listed in your signature tells me you have a builder and the financial backing and this will be a good start to achieve the results you seek.

How much time did it take you to install the Need Wings system and did you do it yourself?

30 - 45 minutes and no problem whatso ever. I'm checking the milege now as this is my first mod. I'm good with my hands but the CD that comes with it will step you through any problems. Questions will also be answered by the "family" so go ahead and step up.

Same as Punkin, easy as heck to install. The stock intakes just essentially pop off as a whole unit. Step-by-step instructions plus Rob at Needswings supplies brackets for the tranny cooling lines & the horns. A complete "kit"!
Love my CAI!
