Same here but I do have a 185mm crank pulley.
Do you have inceased boost?

Check this out, this is my gauge with the new thermostat that I have been developing and testing. It's a 172 degrees STANT stat that will work in the crossfire with work. Now that the PO221 code problem is fixed I can get back to my write-up of the mod and its operation, Enjoy Woody
P.S. I also have a "LESS THAN 10$ FIX TO GET THE FAN TO RUN MORE (FASTER - ADJUSTABLE)" to go along with the stat, sorta like a package.
Ill get to this next week as I have sat and sun autocrosses this weekend, Bee good. W

Well Guys that is where the car runs on the street after I made my mods. About 172 F degrees, or a segment lower than the stock middle position: However the motor believes it is at the Mid position. Love beating up on a computer and still winning.
The tire light is my nemesis. I can not get rid of it, tried magnet and Full Air pressure and nothing. I dont know YET how to get the sensor to go to sleep. I DONT WANT IT AND I BELEIVE IT AFFECTS THE BAS/ESP sensors also. I could use a magic bullet for this problem, makes the throttle body look easy by comparison.....................Woody Enjoy.

It's a Mercedes thing... Slightly above middle is normal from every Mercedes with this kind of temp gauge I've seen.
Lexuses and Hondas on the other hand tend to mock everyone else by running a tick *below* middle, and my BMWs always jump right to TDC.

Its the air temp that causes the timing to be pulled as I understand it. My motor thinks the water is at normal temp but the water is only at the 172 range. The fan is running at a higher rate and the air inlet is cooler due to lower motor temps PLUS the H/E is getting MORE air due to the fan. Ill be on the track in 2 hours and well see how it all works in the real world, not bench racing theories. Enjoy, Woody
