Default Which Cabin Air Filter??? Again-

To make a long story short, I've had a horrible smell coming from my car for about a month. I complained to Chrysler they told me they checked the filter and it was fine. Still smells after other work being done so I brought it back yesterday. When I asked about the cabin air filter this time they said my car didn't come with one. Obvious BS. So I'm done with that dealership now.

Question is, which is the best cabin air filter to buy. I've read numerous posts on this question and just wanted to clarify a few things.

Which is recommended, Charcoal, Carbon(which I can't find anywhere), or Particulate??

I haven't even seen a carbon filter anywhere is this the same as charcoal? I will be doing this myself which is a big accomplishment for me. Thanks for the pics Andrew!!

I also read on here that if I buy the charcoal filter to buy a standard filter as well,,,,, why???

First step is to contact a local Mercedes dealer and ask their advice, then go to Ebaymotors parts/accessories tab. Type in Mercedes SLK and this will provide some suppliers of the different types of cabin filters. dependent on your area, if dusty area, change the filter every year. Keep in mind your filter is almost 4 years old. I changed mine with the regular paper filter and it seems OK.

Carbon...Charcoal...one in the same ! Which is what I would use considering the ill smell you describe.
