Is the new fleece filter meant for longer interval safety?
I don't want to stir up controversy
I'm just curious, are the paper filters or aftermarket filters fine to use if you change your oil every 5K miles? I read an opinion somewhere that felt that the fleece filters were only meant for lasting more safely for long intervals.
Opinions?

I change my oil at 4000 mile intervels and use the fleece filters because they protect beter they are only $ 8 discountes or 12 retail at Napa. that may be twice of all other filters but remember you have twice the car. jim
You know what, my only thing against fleece filters is I hate going to dealerships to buy parts. The people there judge your car, judge you, look at you suspiciously, its always really uncomfortable going to a dealership. Maybe I'm weird.... But I just found that checker auto part's Bosch filter is fleece, and says MANN on it, so I'll be using fleece afterall.
Also available..... a 4 pak fleece filters here.

after 9500 miles I changed the paper oil filter that came with the car, I noticed when I pulled it out that I could easily break it into little pieces, it was very fragile and disintegrated easily!!!
So I suggest you only use the fleece filters for longer oil changes. the paper filter are ok I would guess if you change them every 3000 miles
