Default SRT6 front brake rotors

I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there who has had problems with their front brake rotors. I have a 2005 SRT6 with 8000 miles on it and it already has its third set of brake rotors (same brake pads) on the front end. Believe it or not, I rarely hotrod this car since I need my license for my job. The last time I took it to the dealer they only provided the rotors and I had to pay the labor to have them installed and they said that they would not cover them any more. Seems as if these rotors are pretty crappy. Seems as if when 2500 miles rolls around they start to warp and the steering wheel shimmys. Anyone else?

That doesn't sound right. I have 6000 miles now on my car with plenty of pad left. Sounds like a defect to me unless you break unusually hard all the time. Good luck.

No issues here, either, with just over 30K.
I've replaced the rear pads & rotors around 22K or so, they were rumbling & squeaking; the front & rear pads are Rotek Gold's.

I have an SLK32...pretty sure the brakes are identical, and I have had no issues at all. I drive my car hard and the brakes continue to work great at 25,000 miles.

Check to see if you have the proper directional vains on the left rotor.

I understand that some SRT's came with two right or two left front rotors installed.

Thanks all for the replys on my brake rotors. Thanks BrianBrave for the info on directional vain rotors. Guess I better pull the wheels and see if they installed the rotors correctly.

I replaced my factory rotors with PowerDisc slotted rotors a couple of months ago. The factory rotors were giving me not one bit of trouble and when I pulled them they look VERY good after 23k miles. Very little wear and smooth as a babies butt.

FYI. I really like the slotted rotors and DiscItalia titanium kevlar pads. Very little dust and great stopping. I did put SS brake line in also.

Mike - take a look at the stock rotors and see if both have the proper directional vains.

Interestingly, the rotors are identical. It looks like I have two RIGHT side rotors.

I learned a lesson about rotors with my last car (Eagle Talon TSI.) After having problems with my third set of rotors, the machine shop that turned the rotors said the problem was more rust than warping. I always would garage the car after washing it and drying. This of course left the wet rotors to rust (mostly on the inside of the rotor where I could not see it.) Now when I finish washing and drying my SRT6, I drive it around the block and use the brakes a few times to dry off the rotors. After 10,000 miles my rotors are still perfect. TBW
