newbie comments / q's
Hello all!
I'm a new owner of an '05 SRT6 (2000 miles on her from first owner)
I've been browsing the site for a while now and registered this morning.
I have a few questions/statements:
I've never been on a forum like this before -- If I make any faux-pas cut me some slack please, I'm not making them on purpose, merely out of ignorance.
OEM brake pads get the front rims filthy!! From reading I've gathered Rotex are the way to go. Will be doing that when the originals need replacing.
I think it was Waldig's mod about cutting the front grille to improve airflow to the radiator... is the investment worth the return? Also concerning Waldig's work: very thourough and methodical. A real credit/asset to the site. I don't mean to minimise others' contributions in any way. I simply admire this persons way of thinking and working. I will be modeling my work habits after his. Gratitous *** kissing out of the way, sorry.
I'm not into modding my car (yet) I'm happy with her stock. However it does seem to me that she runs kinda warm (temp gauge is in the middle but I think that the 'middle' on an x-fire is warmer relative to other cars' 'middle' position on their temp gauge) If I could keep her a bit cooler by simply grinding away those back louvers on the grill I'm game.
Any thoughts?
Also I'm apprehensive about the warranty. Can anyone advise about the cost / efficacy of an extended thru Chrysler? I've never had a car worth keeping under warranty before the x-fire and I can see this baby costing me a mint down the road if something ever breaks. Any advice from people that sprung for it?
Also I have it on the books to do the stereo bang for the buck mod-- the stereo in my car rocks but I have noticed it's a bit low-midrange heavy (a general muddled sound kind of -- gets worse as volume increases it seems like). Haven't set a date to do it but I'll post my thoughts in the appropriate thread afterward. Thanks to whomever initiated that mod -- looking forward to trying it out.
Happy to be a part of the group and looking forward to getting to know everyone!!
FYI: I ride a 2002 954rr and since I bought her she's been my exclusive fun vehicle on the weekends. I never thought I'd find anything that compares to her-- now that I'm x-fired-up I haven't ridden since. Having a kick-*** car is lots more fun than having a kick-*** bike ('cept for the gas)!! Now she wimpers in the corner of my garage when I get into the x-fire: 'use me, please..'
I just glance past her her as I step into the x-fire and revel in that wicked exhaust note when I turn her over. There ain't a bike around that can compete with that!

Welcome aboard and slow down. LOL. All the modifications you read about on the forum and tried and tested. But the importanr modification is the "ones" you want. Set up your wishlist in order of importance and do one at a time. You'll be amazed at how much you've changed within six months. Good luck and stay tuned in.
P.S. Check the audio section for upgrades/mods.

Welcome to the forum. First mod I did was the rotex brakes and mine only had 38 miles when I got her. Forget waiting do it now and you will save a lot of cleaning time.
