Fastest launch times
What is the best way to run the 1/4 mile? Are you guys posting the "go faster" times using the computer controls (ESC for traction) or are you turning it off. Please tell me the best way to launch. Many thanks. #40119 build and trying to get faster. Tomygun

Best 60' time I've gotten on All-Season Conti tires is a 2.0
TC off (from the interior button)
Slap the car in Tiptronic mode so the car is in 1st gear
Brake launch ~1500-1800 RPM
Let the car and tranny do the rest .
It really depends on the tires you have, Conti's vs Mich. The Pilots will get you around a 1.8 maybe a 1.7 max, and I've never been able to get into the 1's with Conti's
Track preparation is probably the biggest factor of them all. If the box isn't prepped well then you'll be battling 1/4 mi times all day. If it's tough to hook sometimes you want to leave the TC on.
Mind you this is just what I do.

this should help , in drive or autostick 1 gear turn off your TC
1 go around the water clean your tires off ( quick spin not a burn out)
2 light the first little yellow blub
3 hold the brake and let the car edge foward very slow until the 2 little yellow comes on,( you have 6" of roll before that light goes out)
4 drop your eyes to the green light then bring it back up to the 2 big yellow light
5 with your left foot on the brake and rifgt foot on the gas , hold the brake tight and ease down the gas around 1000 to 1500 ( and you don't have to look at the rpm just bring it up because u are staring at the 2 up from green yellow
6 when that light goes out nail the gas let off the brake, and win the race.
note : you may red light a few times before you get this down pat but my RT is in the 501 to 510 80% of the time OH the 20 it is 491 to 499 try it you may like it. jim

I've been able to lay down super consistant 1.7's 60fts with this method at the track.........(Taken from my "At the Track" thread)
"I'll try and elaborate on how im getting my 60ft times to see if some of you guys could mimic what im doing. I know some of you had pm'd me on what im doing different so........
Granted, i have a lot of experience racing cars. I've been doing it every weekend for 12 years straight so it's sort of second hand nature to me......
Pre-Run
First, I don't make the mistake and go on a T&T or street night. You will not get good 60's because the track is not prepped right and there is not enough traction. Go on a bracket race. Even if you don't know how to bracket race. Enter it(cost is more though) and get behind those big tire race cars. Don't idle while you wait in to make your pass. What i do is wait till the car in front of you moves about a 100ft or so. Then start your car, give it some gas to get you moving, throw it in neutral and immediately shut the car off. This way you won't get too hot. Repeat process. You could even try and walk the car up if you are strong enough.
I try and go into the waterbox at the tick below the half mark or ever a little colder. You don't want to go in too cold though because the motor needs some heat in it along with the trans and rear. Plus, you don't want to chance breaking anything by going in too cold. I don't spin the tires in the water box. I drive through it and stop at the end of the water, but out of the water(important!). I put the car into 1st gear. Soon as I feel the tires start to spin I shift into 2nd. I do a 4-5 second burnout and when i see smoke i let off the brake and ride it through till I feel the tires catch. You don't need a championship burnout!! Just enough to clean the tire and get it warm and sticky.
Staging
Very important!! Put the car back into first gear. Approach the stage beam carefully. Light the prestage and stop. Then, stage the car by bringing up the rpms to 1000 and bump the car in as shallow staged as possible by using your left foot(brake foot) and use a pumping motion. You can't stage the car at 1600-2000 as it will lunge too much when you lift your foot off the brake and possibly make you go too deep in the beams and hurt your 60ft. The more shallow staged you are, the better the 60's. Then, when im in staged I bring the RPM's up to my launch RPM. Anywhere from 1600-2200 usually. I leave on the last yellow and mash the gas and let off the brake at the same time.
From there, HOLD ON!!!

All you guys going through the water????
Won't your tracks let you go around the waterbox and back into it? I hate dragging water onto the track with the front tires.....just inviting a good burnout when you least need it.
