Yeah, i can't believe I'm dead hooking on street tires! Atco is a great track though. They prep that track very well! I wish some of you guys with more mods than I have could race here. I would bet we see a couple of 11 sec runs.

I don't even know where Atco is but I'm willing to guess it's at least 1000 miles from Las Vegas Motor Speedway..............home of the worst prepped track.

EDIT: post above mine was made while typing this response.

I'm loving this!!! I've been able to get consistant 1.9 60s out of my Cheap Kumhos. I thought that was pretty good. I'm going to look into the Toyo's you have if they hook that well.

Yeah, the Toyo's are working excellent! I'm going to need new tires for both front and back soon, so i just may go with them again. I bought the car with them on it along with the stock conti's in the front. I'll try and elaborate on how im getting my 60ft times to see if some of you guys could mimic what im doing. I know some of you had pm'd me on what im doing different so........ Granted, i have a lot of experience racing cars. I've been doing it every weekend for 12 years straight so it's sort of second hand nature to me......

Pre-Run
First, I don't make the mistake and go on a T&T or street night. You will not get good 60's because the track is not prepped right and there is not enough traction. Go on a bracket race. Even if you don't know how to bracket race. Enter it(cost is more though) and get behind those big tire race cars. Don't idle while you wait in to make your pass. What i do is wait till the car in front of you moves about a 100ft or so. Then start your car, give it some gas to get you moving, throw it in neutral and immediately shut the car off. This way you won't get too hot. Repeat process. You could even try and walk the car up if you are strong enough. I try and go into the waterbox at the tick below the half mark or ever a little colder. You don't want to go in too cold though because the motor needs some heat in it along with the trans and rear. Plus, you don't want to chance breaking anything by going in too cold. I don't spin the tires in the water box. I drive through it and stop at the end of the water. I put the car into 1st gear. Soon as I feel the tires start to spin I shift into 2nd. I do a 4-5 second burnout and when i see smoke i let off the brake and ride it through till I feel it catch a little. You don't need a championship burnout!! lol. Just enough to clean the tire and get it warm and sticky.

Staging
Very important!! Put the car back into first gear. Approach the stage beam carefully. Light the prestage and stop. Then, stage the car by bringing up the rpms to 1000 and bump the car in as shallow staged as possible by using your left foot(brake foot) like a slow pumping motion. You can't stage the car at 1600-2000 as it will lunge too much when you lift your foot off the brake and possibly make you go too deep in the beams. The more shallow staged you are, the better the 60's. Then when im in staged I bring the RPM's up to my launch RPM. Anywhere from 1600-2200 usually. Then I leave on the last yellow and mash the gas and let of the brake at the same time.

From there, HOLD ON!!!

I did notice that this car is not really geared right for the 1/4. The car shifts about 150ft before the finish line.

Great times! I am curious, what else is done to this car? I see the 178 pulley and intake, but any other mods? Spark plugs, tune, HE anything?

Thanks!

NICE all around times! Your only mods are a NWI and 178 pulley (rhetorical)?! Where is my brother, I’ve got a 181 pulley to install !

well, i made my first pass and in not sure what to make of it......granted the weather is not what it was when I ran my 12.20, buyer have a strong tail wind and I was hoping for a better time. I went 12.291@112.33. 1.79 60ft launching at 1800. Car hooked good! It felt a little sluggish out of the hole up until the 1/8. Like I said, it could be the weather. DA is pretty high at 1500ft. And the barometer is pretty low. I'll keep you guys posted.
