phantom grip LSD
so i ordered a phantom grip LSD today from their website without consulting the wonderful men and women of the SRT forum.... anything i might regret? GOOD/BAD experiences with them? just seems like such a fantastic and fun mod to have!
i just have a BLAST driving this car, i love dropping her down into 2nd while rolling and pushing the RPM's hard as you get sucked into the seats!!!!

Is this more so your stocks will hook up? So far I don't think anyone has made enough horsepower to need anything more than drag radials. Once you do a burnout both tires lock up and stay locked up for the launch. I personally don't see a need for it.
also, would having an LSD like this be WORSE or better on a wet, slippery day? logic would imply that 2 wheels spinning are better than just one for picking up traction..... same logic apply for a snowy day????
okay, i 'worded' incorrectly.... i was thinking with the phantom, that if i was 'stuck' in the snow, that the LSD would distribute the power to the OTHER wheel freeing me up. my knowledge here is 'obviously' limited as far as LSD's are concerned.

The difference is our traction control works by braking the spinning wheel.
The LSD is great for sporty driving and getting the most power to the ground but for wet and icy conditions TC is hard to beat.
LSD will be great fun -personally like being able to control a slide and putting the rear end where I want it. Using the throttle to control the car instead of a nanny kicking in.

thanks for the info,, being i am 30min away from their shop i will go there,, I want it for drag racing as i have already seen the right wheel spin more than the left on a burn out the right wheel starts spinning and within 2 seconds the left jumps in i want both ar rhe same time,, once i have it installrd i;ll let you know what it does to factory traction control. jim

I added the LSD some time ago and its worked ok, but at the drags I had 2# less air on the right to try and shift the torque MORE to the driverside. My last MIR run went wrong as I overpowered the rear and blew off the tires in first and second went almost all the way. Got a terrible 60' and ended 13.1 at 111 which was 0.6 seconds slower due to traction issues with my 245 KUMO slicks.

Wow, this sounds like a mod I simply have to do. I currently have an LSD on my car (OEM) and its simply wonderful! My only complaint about it is when it rains and you drive through a puddle with one tire or you drive over ice and one tire slips more then other it kind of squirms the back of the car, sometimes pretty violently. An LSD makes it that no matter what happens both wheels will turn, no matter if the other has traction or not.
During normal driving and 90 degree turns it still allows the outside wheel to spin faster to catch up to the inside wheel though.
In the Crossfire when you guys do a burnout with the T/C in the mostly off position, will both wheels leave rubber or only one?
How hard was the install BTW?

There are some LSDs that are "tight" and might cause this feeling when cornering.
LSD - Limited Slip Differential
BTW Both wheels will spin with tc off under hard acceleration.
