Here's a clip showing just how bad it can be:

There are several videos floating around of wrecks there.

I was going to ask if the G8 was modded...then I saw wreckwriter's signature:
2008 Pontiac G8 GT, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Premium and Sport packages
Roto-Fab Intake, VMS HSRK, VMS 93 Octane Dyno-Tune, Jeremy Formato Ported Intake and TB, Full Kooks 1 7/8 system, Pedders X-Member bushings, 25% Underdrive pulley, MSD 8.5 mm wires, GRRRR8 Mods
368.9 RWHP - 362.7 RWTQ
Traditionally, yes, spinning causes a higher trap. As far as trap times and loss of traction in THIS car, I would think the trap would be lower with a loss of taction because of the traction control (even when disabled) applying the brakes.
Thoughts?

Too bad for the car. It doesn' look too terrible. I'd say about $3,000 worth. Please don't claim this on your policy if you can afford to pay for it out of pocket. Insurance Fraud Investigators can and do find these kinds of posts... I'd hate to see you lose your policy and have your rates quadruple. Just a word of advice from an insurance adjuster. I saw nothing...

Re: Disaster at the Miami drags
The dragstrip at California Speedway in Fontana is notorious for poor track prep. We've seen several cars spin and hit the wall there and there have been times when even the Mitsubishi EVO and Subaru STI drivers complained of no grip. If you can't even get an AWD car to hook you've got a real problem.
Unfortunately, we really don't much in the way of alternatives here in SoCal for 1/4 mile tracks. Fortunately we have some good road courses, which are waaaay more fun anyway!
