Default Torque converter

I assume since we have an automatic we have a torque converter, so would this be a worthwile mod for us? I'm thinking this would help our 1/8 mile tremendously and intern our 1/4. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely! A little looser torque converter we would see 1.5's-1.6 on the 60's. You wouldn't want to go too loose though because of drivablity on the street and it could hurt top end mph's. Around 500-1000 RPM looser would be perfect.

If you guys are truly interested in a modified torque converter my Dad owns a transmission shop in Yuma AZ. Team Ramco is the name of the biz. I spoke to him about raising the stall a bit and he was interested. Their bread and butter is heavy equipment like fire trucks and such but they do race car stuff too. Mostly Chevy, Ford and Chrysler (of course the older gen transmissions).

They hand braze the veins on their torque converters, use torrington bearings etc.

I don't know that MPH would be affected though as these are lockup converters

If anyone would be interested I could meet you out there at the shop? I would just need a weeks notice to plan the trek out there.

I'm not too much of an expert on torque converters so I have a question. What's the difference in raising the stall in a lock up converter vs. non-lockup converter? Pros? Cons?

Here ya go fellas...

And if you're going to run a higher stall converter, better invest in some slicks. If you're launching near peak torque (the point of a higher stall converter), you'll be burning the tires like a ****.

I think with that tranny, youd see a whole lot of 11 second SRT6's tho. I'm adding that tranny to my wishlist.

I can't take all the credit; Jani Anttila posted it up onver on MBWorld. They are in NJ so they are probably not too far from you and even closer to me.

Blue, take a look at MD-SRT mods see it says no cats and ported and polished stuff, just like I said before. To me no cats means no cats.

It gave me better results than all other cooling mods combined and for a fraction of the cost!

I'm thinking this sunday they will all be destroyed and put away for a pretty long time! Trust me, this Sunday's forecast is 57 degree high. I plan on pushing the records far enough out there that it will take a couple of years to be broken! The car belongs to my kid now and he says it's ok lol, then I'll de-mod it and let him finally drive it without me in the car maybe. 11.50 off the juice???????
