Joined the 12 sec club tonight...barely
So after reading the accident Jim had with his 6 in So FL, I come with some good news of breaking into the 12s with just an intake in a roadster. I know the coupes can do it fairly easily but the drag of the top slows us down a little.
Anyway, I did have some "help" with ~4 gal of 100 octane fuel ($9.50 a gallon...ouch!). Not sure how much it helped but it definitely got up and went, down the track.
I got to race a couple modded GTO's, along with a lightly modded C5. The GTO's were ~12.7 cars and I ended up only a few tenths behind. Also, both GTO's were on DRs so I imagine if I had them it'd be an even race. The C5 I edged out probably by a fender and both of us got out of the gate pretty well. Temps were around 70 to start and my last run the temp was @ 62
Here's the breakdown: (this is the C5 race)
R/T: .190
60' : 1.970
1/8: 8.380
MPH: 84.49
1/4: 12.942
MPH 108.08
So out of the 2 compounds, Bradenton Motorsports Park and Orlando SpeedWorld. I have to say BMP takes the cake on track prep and smaller crowd. I know Orlando is pretty centrally located for everyone but maybe one of these weekends I can convince some of you to swing over this way and run.
Next Runday Sunday (9am - 5pm) is November 16th, if people want to go and I'm not too hungover from my buddy's wedding then I'm game.

congrats! did they have the scales on to weigh the roadster?
try with 93 octane next time as i suspect you will go quicker, you will make the most power with the lowest octane you can without knock
we run high octane only when we are running the high octane tune with a modified fuel/spark/timing curves, otherwise save the money

Roadsters Rule!
Great job! You need a pulley kit, I bet mid 12's then!
Fantastic Mike! I know if you were using the 100 octane with the low temps in Orlando, you would have the same results. It was hot as hell whenever you went to Speedworld. I'm hoping the weather is cool when I head out to Orlando for Funday Sunday on 11/9. You should come out too if you can. The cooler temps will help with my heat soak until I get the cooling mods done in the Spring. I also got my eu re-tuned by Let after supplying them with the dyno results. Hope to see you soon!
Mike, I take it this is a pro tree as opposed to a street car drag tree?

Welcome to the club. You've got a few tenths still in there with just the intake. Keep at it. I predict you will get to the 12.7's on a good track day.
