Basically limit idling for any long periods of time. Moderate driving, but dont take it to max rpms.

I bought mine 30 months after it was built, with 18 miles on the clock, and drove it "like I stole it" immediately. It didn't fully feel broken in until I hit about 2600 miles.

P.S. I got the 8yr/80K mile warranty on it, so I wasn't too worried about breaking anything.

Depending on who you ask youll get answers ranging from driving it hard immediately to waiting 500mi, to waiting 1500mi.

I drove mine hard immediately. It had 450mi when i bought it and now its at 7k. No issues yet.

Not sure what the 78ks means unless its the milage. I believe that you should drive a car from new like you are going to drive it.

I heard it said that if you baby it and one day really get on it the added heat can make the rings hit the wear ridge at the top of the bore and crack the ring. In the old days you had to go slo till the rough edges are worn smooth, thats long gone. Though I would do a n early first oil change 1/2 of so to get out the wear that does occure early on.

Enjoy the weekend, Woody

Woody, that is probably kilometers. I believe that this is the new '06 SRT6 that he found.

I have been driving my SSB SRT6 that I got with 120 miles on it just like I drive normally.

With the advent of all the metal technology, and lubricants, most new vehicles should only need about 500 miles on them before you drive it like you stoled it. And an early oil change is not a bad idea either, at say 1000 miles.
Just my opinion.

I bought my 2006 a few months ago with 60 miles on it and changed the oil at 100 miles. (Now have 600 miles) No since leaving 2 year old oil in it. I run the car as hard as traffic and vigilance permit. I don't expect any problems. Just change the oil if you can't get the dealer to do it. My dealer wouldn't.

I've babied all my cars, until this one, and not a one lasted as long as my friends that beat theirs to death. Just my experience.
