Default Kooks Racing Custom Exhaust

Custom cat back exhaust with 304 Stainless, 2.5" ID dual pipes straight back into high flow mufflers. If somebody tells me how to load a sound clip I will. The system is pretty loud when going full bore. There is some drone inside the car, but the decision was to go all performance with as straight a run as possible, without having to mess with the shield around the fuel pump. My wife and son and everyone else who hears it says it sounds awesome. I think the drone is a little too much, but Kooks said after about 250 miles it will become less as the mufflers get heated a few times

It came out nice. I like how both pipes go around the left side of the diff, and it doesnt look like much clearance was sacrificed to do so. One of those welds in the last pic looks really bulky and im not sure its stainless, maybe their was a large gap in between the 2 pipes.

A few questions:
Wheres the x-pipe?
How much lighter was this system than stock?
What tips did you use?
Do those 2 bolt flanges have a taperfit flange inside to reduce chance of a leak?
Price?
Are you gonna get dyno results?

Sorry for all the questions but you know i had an exhaust very similar to this so im interested as to your results.

Nice and clean - best aftermarket tips I've seen on an exhaust - you won't regret installing SS

A few questions:
Wheres the x-pipe? Kooks felt there would be no hp/tq gain to be had.
How much lighter was this system than stock?Didn't weigh it but at least 20 lbs
What tips did you use? Ones I found on ebay almost exact size but .5" wider
Do those 2 bolt flanges have a taperfit flange inside to reduce chance of a leak? Yes they slide together first then bolt.
Price? $700 plus my tips which were $64
Are you gonna get dyno results? Yes after I finish the manifolds, then Dyno for A/F ratio to tune.

Yes I know

700 before my tips, I decided to leave factory exhaust alone and not cut it up. Nice thing with Kooks is if I decide it is too loud they will put in two high flow resonaters no charge. Their work is top notch.

Bigger than TWIN 2.5? I seriously doubt it. That is a LOT of volume.

And that exhaust is beautiful.

it looks really nice but no thanks to the drone, i have dealt with it before and it makes the car no fun to drive. a few hp gain is not worth it considering all the misery it causes and the unnoticable performance gain.

So tell me how small of a gain is there with a 181 pulley and custom intake??

Bulldogger, do you have any DYNO numbers? it seems no one has found an optimal system yet. the work we did found like 2-3hp difference in 3 different setups....

I was a welder/metal fabricator for 10 years; that is indeed stainless steel. Looks like he welded it with a MIG (GMAW) gun. Might have got a little hot, but it is difficult to MIG thin material like that.

Looks awesome Man! Looking forward to hearing it. Just post on youtube and send us a link.

Never dyno'd. Was the 2-3hp on stock or modified cars. Kooks does this for their living, they estimated by the restrictions of the factory exhaust 10hp gain, but with a pulley and intake the gain would be greater. According to 240M3SRT he had the most gains with a 3" single exhaust and no gains with duals and the highest dyno with a stock exhaust system. I would think that with a larger pully and free flowing intakes that all the extra air coming in would need a faster way out. I will be dynoing and tuning the whole set up soon.
