60,000 Service...
So I called the local dealership today, told them my car has been bugging me about getting the 60,000 mile service (even though im only at 57k??) and I asked the guy for a ballpark figure on the cost..
He tells me (and a i quote): "oh there's not much to do on the crossfire at all. really all we do is inspect the brakes and change the oil. So you're looking at probably $250"
TO which I said "alright thanks.. goodbye"
Seriously? $250 for an oil change and brake inspection.. Ill do it myself.
Anyone else had their 60k? Anything that was noticed I should know about?

I have about 57,000 miles as well. And I've got some bearing noise coming from one of the pulleys. A friend that works on MB said that is common for these cars at or around 75,000 but said it should be in hours not miles. So if you sit in traffic much you might want to check these as well. Also the book said to change the fuel filter and the air filter at 60,000

When I start mine it shows -1800. It started at -100 and has gone up in 100 increments in the last two years. It is a service warning? I changed the oil somewhere around -600 but i guess the dealer resets it when they do it. Is there a way I can reset it myself?
Yep, the reset directions are posted somewhere on the board. Someone more useful will post a link for you. The -minus sign is how many miles you are past due the service or since the last reset wasn't done.
Copied and pasted from another member's post.
FSS Reset
1. turn the key to the on/run position.
2. within 1 second press the **** to the left of the display twice.
3. present status for days remaining or distance traveled is displayed. within 10 seconds turn key to off.
4. press and hold **** on left side of display while turning key to on/run again. present status is displayed once more. continue to hold button. after approx. 10 seconds a tone sounds and the display shows 6,000 miles for approx. 10 seconds.
5. release the ****
You should be able to do this. It takes a few attempts to get it right. One pointer ...the 10 seconds in step 3 refers to 10 seconds after the key is turned to the ON position. You have to turn it off before that expires.

Cut and past the instructions into a WordPad .doc and collect neat Crossfire info there.
I'm doing this and will make a little business-sized card to keep in the glove box. FSS reset. Throttle reset. ESP/BSP reset. etc. Part numbers. You get the drift.
This weekend?
I think that one of us could collect this data all in one place and have the Admin. make a sticky?
Anyone else?

Throttle Reset
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.
ESS/BSP Reset
1. Turn on the engine
2. Rotate your steering wheel all the way to the left and then all the way to the right.
3. Drive normally. The light should go off.

I kind of just threw that outthere. I've started, like I said, a file and I'll clean it up and send it to the powers that be.
I'll try to include K&N #'s OEM wheel info, tire sizes etc. And stuff like that.
By the way, Andrew and others posted this tuff in the past. I can't take credit for work others have done. I'm not an officer or a politician.

I was just going to bring up this question...but then I read the post above. I'm going to start changing the filter halfway through the 7,000 mile oil change. The oil should hold up fine for that long, but the filter should need changed.
Is the oil filter tool just a generic filter removal tool, or is it MB specific?

I've had no problem removing and re-tightening mine by hand. I don't know that I would want to use a tool-too much chance of over-tightening.
But I'm really strong!

Good to know, I will check it out. You don't lose any oil by just changing the filter, right? (Like you would on a normal-mounted oil filter)

To keep it really clen, I unscrew it just enough to clear the o-ring, let it sit 2-3 minutes and then wrap a couple of paper towels around it before unscrewing it the rest of the way. Nary a drop.
