Default Black dust :(

just changed my belt, and now have black dust in the engine compartment
is this ALWAYS an indicator of belt slip, or might there be some kind of wear in on the new belt?

I have a little bit of belt dust on my engine cover. I was a little concerned about it, but after a quick visual inspection, it looks as if the belt runs true. Does anyone else have a little bit of belt dust on their engine covers?

Are you sure you have the belt correctly lined up in the grooves in all of the pulleys? The belt could be offset and rubbing against something or the offset will flex the belt side to side and cause rapid wear.
Is the tensioner giving the correct tension, if the new belt is too long it will slip without the correct tension.

According to manufacturers the black powdery substance does show signs of slippage though often it is minimul it IS slippage.
Which belt did you go with?
As I think I heard in the past you are running a code 3 pulley aren't you?

I second the comment about checking your belt alignment. If it is off by one groove on the supercharger pulley it will eat up the edge of the belt and throw black dust everywhere.

That would be the first thing I'd check.

I guess that means I "third" it.
