Bad Blower Bearing
Lately I noticed a sound coming from the car as it came to a stop. It sounds a little like rocks rolling around in a coffee can. I can only hear it as I slow to a stop. At first I thought it might be the transmission so took it to the dealer Ontario (California) Jeep Chrysler. They have always treated me and my cars (3 over the last ten years) well.
After inspection, they said it was the supercharger. They said Chrysler recommended replacement. Thank goodness for the Chrysler extended warranty! The supercharger is going to cost $6K, my cost, a $100 deductible.
Anyone else heard this sound from your SRT6?

if your s/c bearing goes bad, you don't need a new s/c if you dont have a warranty. code3 sells a s/c bearing if/when (and it probably will eventually like a lot are on the C32s now) it goes bad
God! I love that video. No not the 911 race (it was ok) JTurkel's star licking blond. Maybe because it's just so honest lol

Just over 18K miles. It does not seem to affect performance, just sounds odd.
Definitely a case for extended warranties. Of course if the Supreme Court forces Chrysler to liquidate, I guess I can always get it serviced at Obama's Garage. LOL

Dealership service depts are notorious for throwing new hardware at a problem until it goes away, instead of actually "fixing" the problem. In this case, it's likely that all you needed was a $40 bearing replacement in your supercharger pulley.
BTW - I read somewhere that the superchargers used by dealerships in these cases aren't new, they're factory refurbs... would be good if the OP could confirm or deny this rumor, when possible.
Can you check with the dealer and see if you can keep the old one... I might be interested in buying it...just for fun.
But only if you can keep it for free, cause I don't want you to dish out of pocket for something I would debate buying right now...
just saying

Mr Max, I have been drooling over Jturkel's girl ever since he put it up.....
Just got mine out of the shop last week. Same thing, strange rattle from the front end. When it was all said and done, the warranty saved me over $9000 for parts and labor. Just paid the $100 deductable. Car seems faster now but I am sure that is just an illusion. I have right at 30K on my car.
So far since I bought it with 13K on it this and one IC pump have been the only problems. I am getting a vacuum sound from the rear by the gas cap when I turn the car on, someone once said that is a hole in some vacuum line that deals with the gas door, but it is still working so I am going to wait on that item a bit.

So rumor that they are sending out s/c's that are refurbs probably has some validity...

I figured I could replace the bearings and have a second S/C lying around in case I ever needed it
Picked it up yesterday afternoon. The supercharger looks new, the noise is gone and I am happy. Ontario (CA) Jeep/Chrysler has always done a good job for me.
The job took two days because all the parts weren't in the box coming from Chrysler. Perhaps because of the extra day, I was not charged the $100 deductible from my extended warranty. Seeing the number of posts that said they had the same problem, it could be one of those "hidden" warranties covering the supercharger.
And no, they sent my original unit back.

Well, I heard the same rattling sound coming from the Code-3 Pulley. I'll have to call the folks at Code-3 to see what they'll do for me. I have only about 7000 miles on it.
