I don't think it makes the alt work any harder ,your car starts on the batt and then it charges the batt and runs the car. they have had a few in srt-4's for over a year,, and found out today there is one in a srt-8 jeep, it has been there for about 6 mo now. jim

Really? well if it passes in a SRT-8 shouldn't have any problems in our cars, it'l save alot of weight thats fore sure not to mention how much cheaper they are to replace. Good find!!

Interested in your results, just wondering how you secure the battery and if you needed to rewire much. At my job Ive access to slightly damaged "employee sales" batteries that are OK, just cant be sold to the public. I get them for 10 bucks and at that price its a mod Id be interested in

i only turned around the negative cable where it is bolted to rhe car that made it long enough so the batt. would sit all the way in the back,,, being it is temp for the test time, i used a square block of strifoam to make up the same size as the factory batt and for now useing the factory hold down. I also have a volt meter that u plug into the lighter and it tells me the volts of the batt,, so far i have 29 starts 200 miles and of the 200 5 have been with the head ligjts on,, so far so good. jim

I am saving about 35 lbs with this batt.. the only concern is (for some of you not me ) the winter, will it work in cold weather? here in Ft. Lauderdale i don't have cold weather, and if i did i would move south, your thoughts on it working in cold weather? jim

i wouldn't use that battery in the winter up here, would go back to the stock one. Wonder if it could handle 3-4 starts while i go down the staging lanes at the track. I normally have the car off as much as possible while at the track to keep the SC and SC coolant cold.

Nice definately let me know if it holds up. I have been looking for a reliable lightweight battery to run at the track.

I had a DEKA ETX14(Braille) about the same size. Never had any problems unless I let the car sit for more than 2 weeks. Bought a trickle charger and put it on there if the car wasn't driven for a while.

I've been running a Braille in my SLK32 for about 4 months. Not quite as cheap as the Rage Tec battery, but high quality. I didn't go with the ultra-light version (6 lb) because I wanted more amps, but this one is still only 11.5 lb and it works great:

Don't waste your time with the Braille aluminum mount kit, though. It's heavy and way overpriced. i originally ordered it then sent it back. The basic mount that comes with the battery works fine, looks good, and is much lighter. Here's the full line-up of Braille products at Tire Rack:
