Go and have fun. You won't be sorry. Don't worry about the car, it has so much protection you can't hurt it. The computer won't let you make an expensive mistake. The first time is intimidating but once your on the track and doing well all the worry's evaporate. You have a maximum street performance car, use it. I did and now I live for the next track day. (I really did pass 2 Z06 Corvettes! And a Porsche turbo too! (I'm not the most courageous driver but apparently more than those 3) The Honda S-2000 is perhaps the best platform to modify for the track, and the miata next. Don't fret, the X-fire is No. 3.

PM me if you prefer.
My brothers tell me that Puerto Rico is a suburb of Texas, so maybe you should add me to the member list too.

Hey Glin, its Cory....Bobby's son!

Hello Everyone! :hi:

i am the one with the S2000, and for the other member of the forum it was my dad that has intaganized Glin about my S.

when i took my S to TWS back in January it was my first time to go so The Driver Edge (link to these guys posted above, ps these guys are awsome instructors/track organizers)

with it being my first time to go to the track though the drivers edge they put me in the Green run group(order is Green, Blue, Yellow, Red and instructor) i was in the run group with Vettes, Vipers, a GT-R, Bimmers others.

Yes i am the one that told my dad, that told Glin, that i passed vettes and vipers. Because i Did.

As for the strait aways, i had several times where a Vette would BLOW pass as would a M5 and other high power cars on the home strait and by turn 4/5 i would be right on their tail. On that same lap they would let me pass and by the time i got alittle ahead of them, YES we would be coming up to the home strait but this time they would not pass me because they knew(and their instructor knew) that they would just have to pass them again.

im NOT saying that i am the best driver out there(btw, at the time all i had was Falkin 452's tires, which you can look up and they are far from race tires, that where worn with my race rims, and a front strut bar,a mugen hard top that has no structural integraty, THATS IT)

track experience has alot to do with it, but that same day i went from green run group to Blue and my instructor had me go solo on the last event. He felt that Blue was best for me and my driving at the time. When i was in Blue i didnt pass anyone and had an Audi TT pass me once. other then that all of the cars in blue where evenly spread over the track.

like i said at the begining of the post it was my dad who has fueled the fire by playing around with Glin.

here is a link to the photographer at the track for The Drivers Edge

and this is a picture of me when i was in blue solo

And No Glin, dont believe my dad when he said that there are a bunch of S2000 gunning for you, he is joking if you cant tell. www.S2kca.com is not even aware of this post

If he has experience and you don't, you'll probably get killed.

A standard +8000rpm redline + RWD = KILLER track car. They don't have a lot of torque so they can really hammer it in the corners and not lose traction.

You'll be babying your car so the rear end doesn't fly out, then the computer will shift for you, then you'll down shift, then up shift too far.

Good luck, man. If you've never taken your car out on a road course, I wouldn't talk any mess.

If his S2000 is modded you've probably got less of a chance.

Theres a supercharged Miata that runs at the "twisty" track that I go to. That sucker must go 10 mph faster than me in the corners. I'm soooooo fast on the straights but ... no straights!!!
I still have the unofficial record for unmodified car at the track (no one is unmodified) (now I'm not either!). Now I have Koni's so we will see on Sunday. I hate slow cars that turn! Glad you came over to visit "17 now 21"

Cory,

A great and intelligent respone. Are you sure you are related to your father? Just kidding. He has a gift for antagonizing and I let him get to me this time with all the S-2000 hype. I had visions of me going to the track only to he hounded without mercy by a plethora of angry S2000's wanting my blood.

Your comments fit well into this forum. I studied this forum for weeks before finally joining. I enjoy the factual no nonsense appoach everyone takes. You will notice the comments were very analytical about the S2000 and it's capabilities. I am left with the opinion I need to go to driving school before I do anymore trash talking (not that I did much in the first place).

I hope you can give me some driving tips. You are obviously a much better driver than most on the track.

Thanks

lol, all of the guys and galls on s2kca are calm and orderly.

as anyone you ask that has been to the track would tell you, just listen to you instructor!! for you i would STRONGLY recomend going with The Drivers Edge! they have a meeting before the first track day and each morning before you go out on the track

the instructor are VERY knowledgable about the track and are very friendly. at the end of the event your instructor fills out a card that you can get a copy of later from Rick(the owner of The Drivers Edge). the card tells you all about your driving and if you come back to the track what run group they would recommend you go in.

Even though mine solo'ed me the second day, he recommended that i have an instructor for at least one run at the next event.

i dont know if you were under the impression that these events are timed. THERE NOT. infact they have a strict policy that ALL instructors and event managers DONT have anytype of stopwatch for keeping lap times.

The event is not a compitition at the drivers edge. HPDE stands for High Performance Drivers Education. that is what it is just Drivers Education, the reason is to go to the track and learn to control your car while taking it the edge in a controlled envernmnet.

When i went i had a blast, i just wish i would go back. but right now funds are low

i know with the drivers edge you can go to an event and not have to pay anything to get in and watch and Possibly get a ride with an instructor(you may have to "donate" to ride)(when i was at the track my girlfriend and i got a ride in a 360 modena challenge stradale and a lingenfelter supercharged Vette, both instructors)

they also have a parade lap where you can take any 4wheeled vehicle on the track for 3 free laps at like 20-35mps(could be faster)

all in all just go and have fun with your car

Welcome to the forum guys. I have heard nothing but good stuff about TWS. I would like to make it down there sometime this year. I will wait for it to drop below 100 freaking degrees out in Texas before my car hits the track.

Thanks for clearing up what Driver's Edge is all about. I now look forward to going to TWS. It will be great to learn how to control my car.

When in High School (many years ago) I had a MBG that I learned to tune perfectly; including the suspension. I knew exactly how far I could push the car. There was no fear the motor would overpower the suspension. The car was extremely well balanced and I was drifting curves at high speeds before anyone knew what drifting meant. My underpowered MGB never disappointed and never scared me. I am aware of how a car with great handling (it was for it's time) can beat much more powerful cars on the right road. I did it several times.

My SRT-6 is an entirely different beast. The car will quickly overpower it's suspension. That is a scary feeling that I hope to correct by training and some suspension mods.

Thanks again for the info.

i must agree that track experience has alot to do with how you handle compaired to other

this is a vid of one of our more experienced members on the forum..i can vouch for the mods on this car....NO suspention, NO body work, AEM intake, Invidea Exhaust, and a simple little srut bar. THATS IT...keep an eye on the order of the cars...porche,vette, and his S.

his S is the 2.0L model, not the newer 2.2L

s2k's are cool, but I am about 4 inches too tall to own one. I like the feeling of sitting deep in a car. My head was above the windshield in the honda haha.

Hey Tom, I think you may need to trade in the DRs for some new tires though LOL
