C63 Kill...ed
C63 Kill...ed
I was coming home after a long day listening to music at the lights totaly unaware of my surroundings. It was a 3 lane road with the far left side having to merge. I was on the far right lane, a family car in the middle lane and soon to my realisation a AMG C63 on the far left.
As the lights went green i see this Black weapon launch and dominate up the road, straight away it caught my attention so i decided to find out what it was. I caught up stil unaware of what i was dealing with to see the AMG badge and realise it was a C63.
I could hear his V8 screaming wow they sound amazing... I down shifted just as i came up beside him to let him hear my engine and know im up for a race..
He looks to his side and acknowledges me so i proceed to puting my foot down at around 35mph, the timing wasnt perfect so i shoot a car infront of him and slowly start pulling away until i clocked off at around 90mph.
We have a second run where he goes too early and kept pulling away.
Finaly we came to a round about and made a right which had a long straight stretch of road. Its only one lane so im right behind him we both go full throttle at the same time. We stayed even to about 50mph or so then he slowly pulled a car on me and stayed that way to 120mph.
Amazing car and engine, they sound amazing i would love to own a C63 one day.
Now i just need to get a tune and give him another go!

Thats awsome that you kept up with that! If you want a tune just get powerchip, you dont have to worry about sending your ECU overseas they claim about 17 or 18kws which is around 22 or 23 hp which is all the American tuners offer anyway so no point sending it away. I'm thinking of getting mine done soon here in Melbourne.

Great kill. With a tune on your car it will be no contest. I have a buddy with a C63 Black Series that has a tune on his car other than that it is bone stock. He an I are a pretty close race, but he has yet to beat me. He takes this thing to the track all the time! His best time in it is a 12.3 if I recall!

to the OP, there was a three way test between the IS-F, E92 M3, and C63 done by road and track a while back... You can see all the specs there.
I love the C63s' they are just sexy looking cars.... the black series take them to a whole new level too..

There is no "C63 Black Series"............did you mean CLK63 BS? If so, those little guys run low 12's/high 11's bone stock and dip into the mid 11's with a tune and some decent tires.

Cool, you're right about same basic 6.3 V8...............but the CLK BS is about $60k more(new), has two less doors and weight a lot less. I love both the C and CLK BS equally though. It's very rare to get a M-B owner(especially with NA engines) to go out to LVMS because they run so much slower here than the nice sea level tracks.
Does your buddy baby the car at the track? Any decent tires?

Haha he would be thinking but i have new AMG tech with 470hp how is this possible?! Does he fare any better from a roll or dig? The one i raced looked like a rocket from the lights

There aren't any 'chips' that are worth a darn & sure as heck won't give you a 17 kws boost. The only way you're ever going to get any decent gains, or let's put it this way, any gains that are proven, is to send the ECU away.

Re: C63 Kill...ed
Performance-wise, this is my guess:
stock C63 > stock SRT-6
modded C63 > modded SRT-6 (talkin' bolt-ons here)
stock C63 =/< modded SRT-6
The fastest modded C63s have run 11.4, 11.5 and trap in the low 120s - these are all motor, no F/I or nitrous. Mind you, this is also basically after one season of running modded HW/SW, learning launch techniques, etc... wouldn't be surprised to see them run 11.2 @ 124 (or thereabouts) in ideal conditions this fall.
As for mixing up a CLK63BS ($140k MSRP widebody coupe with lots of CF, forged wheels, etc.) and a C63 ($60k MSRP entry-level AMG sedan) - well, that would kinda be like mixing up a CTS-V and a ZR1... JMHO.
