I have heard the same thing. As mine is a DD, I will anxiously wait till next spring, patiently waiting for a new bumper cover to become available...

 

I was at the dealer today and asked my parts guy about the SRT6 front bumper. He said 9 are on national back order with no date for ETA. He told me sometimes it takes a certain number on back order before they will manufacture more of the item. The good news is that the part number is not "canceled" or "out of production". So there is hope.

Supercharger also is on national backorder. ETA is Oct6, but I am not holding my breath.

Well today I put the "back order" number at 10 for the SRT front bumper. We shall see.

$549 for Limited Facia
$297 for an SRT6 Facia

That sounds backwards but know it is correct.

From what I have read, a much bigger issue over the supply of parts from Daimler for the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger is being fought in the court system. Don't know if its related to the back orders but Chrysler is suing Daimler and Daimler is saying that they don't accept the re-negotiated contracts under the terms of bankruptcy laws......They want to settle it out of court but Chrysler is taking them to court hoping for a better deal

 

I don't have an SRT6 and am probably way wrong on this, but doesn't the SRT6 have the same bumper as the NA, but with the spoiler skirt attached? That would justify the quoted prices - the extra $297 is just for the add-on skirt.

 

No, they are two different bumpers. The SRT has an extra lip at the bottom. The big price difference makes no sense.

 

It is the entire facia, not just the lower part. James

 

Maybe the normal bumper is more expensive because they know we will all end up having to buy those. :P

 

I dont know why you guys have been waiting to buy srt-6 bumper cover for so long. I already have bought 2 in the last month.

If you guys need one or two let me know I think i paid $350 for it each.

 

This is what I've heard also, but I've heard that it is more about their sprinter vans due to the high commercial usage rate of them...

Who knows what will come of this, but all in all, you know where to get your MB parts....MB.

 

My parts guy called today to tell me he got a message that my bumper cover will ship NOV 30. $303 my cost.

I called my dealer and they told me $450. I think it depends on where you live.

 

I just posted yesterday in exterior & interior section in need of a front bumper cover. This came about after the body shop caledl me and said I've got a little bad news for you; I can't locate the part. I was actually going to drop my car off and pick up the rental. The damage on my bumper is a scrape and crack, you have to be upon it to see the damage but it has to be replaced. My "04" limited got totaled from the rear while I was waiting to merge on to the highway two years and a month ago. Oh did I mention that every two years and down one month I'm in an accident (I'm getting hit). That's when I made my move to "05" BLK SRT6 CONV (love that color for all you "aero bluesters"). So getting back to this accident rate, this all started 11/05 then 10/07 last one to date 09/09/09; needless to say 08/2011. I'll be walking, biking, cabbing and public transportation!

be careful i called and ordered form this website and when it arrived it was not an SRT-6 bumper it was a base model

i really just needed to get my car out of the shop, it had been in the shop for 35 days, so that bumper is on my car now!! i know its blasphemy right? but GEICO is going to replace it as soon as one is available, so at least i get to drive my car again.
