I wanted to share a few ideas that I have incorporated into my Crossfire. THese are to assist in the longevity of the car overall and decrease stress overall.

I have added some simple braces that bolt on to the intake manifold and are held in place with a hose clamp. See the photos to get a feel of how I did it. I used LOWE's aluminum strap and bent it in a bench vise before buffing the braces. Its easy piezie to do.


This is to limit the motion forces that the throttle body sees as the engine flexes during wide open throttle operation. Remember that my motor is strapped down to limit the rocking the block see under full power shifts. The long inlet tubes act as a lever arm and I wanted to arrest some of the force involved.


To further minimize the shifting forces, I DID NOT CLAMP the inlet tubes to the rubber hose going thru radiator support. There is sufficient sealing for me and the lack of a clamp allows the tubes to shift in the rubber hose tube. I also added some silicone grease to the inside to prevent sticking of the hose/tube interface.


By masking off the nedswings logo, I sanded the nameplate with 400 and 1500 grit. After getting the letters smooth I used mothers aluminum polish (Walmart) to get a polished finish. I thought the little touch added to the overall look. I am currently working to polish the tubes over their entire length, and will show it when done - puff puff.


I go to the firewall ALL the time and this seemed to be a good idea, and may stem long term stress(es). How you enjoy the thoughts, Woody

Neato. Takes all the stress of that rubber gasket, have you had any issues that prompted this or was this just a peice of mind modification?

The throttlebody sits on the supercharger inlet peice and has a rubber seal that allows for twisting clockwise and counter clockwise. I think the concern here was as the motor twists the dual CAI stays in the same spot and causes the throttle body to twist on the top of the supercharger inlet causing stress on that rubber peice that hold it all together.

 

I was just looking at the clearance between the prototype manifolds and my prototype cai ( both the original models) and decided that additional support could not hurt. I do so much high power activity what with autocrossing in first gear at 6000, that the motor jerks around a lot and I felt this might be a benefit to others also.

I had done the motor arrestor cable also to limit stresses and motion because we have such LOOSE motor mounts that it looked like it needed assistance to keep the motor from flailing around also.

Just trying to plan ahead and forstall any problems for the future. Woody

 

Woody, your supports would be a good way to hold the CAI tubes off the plug coils too if you did them both like the drivers side. hmmmmmm....
