Default engine spacer question

i am trying to research the phenolic spacer. it seems there are spacers for the underside of the s/c and spacers for the mani's. some cost 40$ and need 2 sets of cork gaskets 40$ and some are 349$ ! i have read of good inc. from the topside phenolics and heard the bottoms can toast an engine
so i turn to the pros here. teach me of what the purpose is and the upsides and down.
thanx in advance guys

The main purpose is to minimize the transfer of engine heat to the intake. This would give you a cooler intake air temp thus more power.

On the downside if you inadvertently fold a gasket over or don't get a good seal you may suffer from "the more parts I buy the slower I go" syndrome!

There may also be clearance issues depending on other add-ons.

One of these days I will look into making my own.

I think the manifold spacers do what they are made to do. Help keep the IAT's a little cooler. I don't have them myself so anything I think or say is not based on my experiences. Just what I've heard others say. On the MB forum some swear you'll blow up your engine real fast putting them under the supercharger.

I have the C3 6mm spacers with NW gaskets under my intake plenums. No issues with them and I dont think any boost leaks.... I am hitting 20psi....

I read that you can also put them between the intakes and engine for more isolation.

I believe that the LET/EC spacers are 3mm.

looking at the hpashop.com website the c3 are no longer listed. all i can find are the evosport s/c spacers and the ec spacers plus the needswings corks for above and below
