Resonator delete/tune question
Ok, I am getting my LET tune in Atl. on 12/12. I am also considering removing my back 2 cats and doing a resonator delete. My question is..... do the exhaust mods affect the tune? The reason I ask, is that I was planning on waiting until spring to do the exhaust mods. Should I go ahead and get this done prior to the tune?

xray has what u want to do res and rear cats deleted.. he is also going to alt on the 12th, i guess you couls see if your tune is the same as his if YOU BOTH have the same mods. oh on this car doing things from the front cats back doesn't seem to have very much effect on performance, good luck. jim

from all i have seen if you do not have headers either long or short tube then the gains from exhaust mods on the s/c engine are very small. not enough to affect the tune. im also wanting to do the exhaust mods but am stretched dollar wise so mine will wait.
now if your tossing headers into the mix i would get it done before the tune
someone correct me if im wrong but the big gains on exhaust mods on n/a engines are due to the scavenging effect on the engine. as the srt-6 is force fed the scavenging has minimal effect

Thanks for the replies.... As I am stretched for cash now as well, this makes the decision to wait on the exhaust mods a no brainer. I am not doing anything with the headers, and I was not expecting performance gains from the cat and resonator deletes. My main goal is weight reduction, and hopefully a better exhaust sound.

I have not noticed any performance gain since removing my cats and resonator but I really love the sound of the car now. It is just loud enough to hear it but it is not loud enough to be annoying. It is cheaper than replacing the muffler and I think it sounds really good.

Isn't it about time for you to head back to the track again. Let me know how it goes.

Now if you told me that the people behind you thought the exhaust was too loud as you blew by them, I might believe it. haha!

Dec 5th is the next track meet! I'm convinced I'll get 12.2 this time
I deleted my resonator only for the weight and for the sound. I REALLY like the sound. Just the right amount of growl for me.
With the Dual NW CAI it really sounds good, between the SC and the exhaust tones.
The car has a considerably lower, more audible grumble from deleting the resonator. My car next to 32Krazy!'s SLK sounded great; a nice night and day comparison. I want to either remove the muffler or replace with a louder note. The few passes that have been recorded of my car only pick-up the high pitch wine of the S/C. Very cool in its own right, but I need a baritone to mix with it, lol.
PS the ECu is very good at adjusting for minor changes to the system, so doubtful that releasing a bit of flow on the back end will show a disturbance in the force.

bmorgan i have heard goodgenes79 car up close and personal. the sound is amazing! at low speed you barely hear it and when jason stands on it the blower whine and exhaust dance together in musical harmony. its just how i want mine to sound
Sounds great..... Now, I just need to decide if I want to do the resonator only, or do resonator and cats. Decisions........

The Cat Delete will deepen up the tone. I finally got to hear my car tonight when Thumper took it for a test drive I really like the way it sounds.
