What size were the wheels, thats not too bad on the weight savings but the CAI is definitely a better bang for buck mod.

This is too nice a car to treat it like an old race...if I am going to that, hell I'll buy a wrecked one and put a hemi it, detroit locker rear end, and do wheel stands...lol
Doc we really don't need a "HEMI" to do wheelies....With nearly identical demensions (especially weight and wheelbase), here's a wheelstander that's only a second faster than Mr. Photoman's "6".

But you're right, maybe a Detroit Locker, along with 4.88's (and some wrinkle walls) might come in handy.
It makes me wonder if we'll be seeing a radical SRT yanking the front wheels on "Pinks All Out" in a few years.
Actually the 17" wheels on a SLK cut a 1/2 second off its 1/4 mi. ET's compared to the lighter "NA" Crossfire, (thanks to less rotating mass).
But putting skinny SLK type tires on a torquey SRT might not be a very good idea unless you like the smell of melting rubber.

Actually I don't remember what size I was looking at. In fact, now that I think about it, 5 lbs per wheel is high. Maybe it was 2 or 3. But you can check American Racing's web site out. They'll custom make whatever you want for about $600 a wheel.

I wish I had not lost the photos of my old camaro...she would yank the front end...it would be nice to build another race car...but, getting too old for that now, I just like pushing the limits on what I have without destroying the stock look, and drivability. So, no stripping going with mine, now a stripper in mine, well, that would be another thread...lol

Did they come on it from the factory? NO! SLK's come with "Skinny" tires compared to what came on the Crossfire. That's what I was refering to in my post about SLK's running a 1/2 sec. faster than a lighter NA Crossfire does on its STOCK tires.

Are these a potential candidate for the SRT6?

When referring to weight savings are you primarily talking 1/4 mile? No advantage I could see for the street.

Better gas mileage, more nimble car and greater acceleration are all great things for the street.

Ok, you find them for me for cheap................and I'll test the fitment.
I've never found a M-B wheel(excluding SUV's) that won't bolt up to the rear of a Crossfire.

I know exactly how much they weigh(when not chromed).........which is why I don't want chromed rims. I want the polished ones, they are the lightest M-B rims ever produced. You can run 255/50 16 DRs on those rims. There's a 10 second SL55 running those wheels with that size Hoosire DR( I already have the tires).

That right there is great info man! I too am going to be looking for a rim that will work the best for a drag setup. IMO, you don't need huge meats under there. The car will hook on a small slick setup.

Here's a 600rwhp 10 second SL55 running the little baby 255/60 16's and cutting 1.5-1.6 60's. If he can hook then any Crossfire will hook..........plus I've already had and raced with 315/35 17 Hoosiers and the only thing they do better is look REALLY cool.
