Default I need a Grill

Okay I over modified my grill and about 90% of it decided to eject itself on my way to Atlanta. I believe the cause of this was my removal of the bottom row of the bent up lip in the rear without this there was no down pressure on the bottom of the grill to hold it tight against the bumper. Air was able to get behind it and at 80mph the constant buffeting caused it to leave. The only piece I have left is the top row that bolts to the car.
After talking to the dealership I have concluded that our grills must have been made with gold dust as part of the compound since they want over 300 for a new one. I figure if I am going to spend that kind of money I might as well get a custom one. I would appreciate it if anyone can tell me where I might find a custom grill for our cars.

did you cut out too much bracing or just the lip to allow more air? I have a modified grill...it will need repainted. I was stripping the paint on it when I decided to go to a custom grille. The bottom of the grille doesn't always stay latched because the tabs break off...mine has seen 150 and never came apart, so I am thinking you cut out too much...anyway, pm me if you are interesed in the modified one...

Xray, I took off all those up facing pieces on mine too and have had no issues with it at all. Maybe you didnt get the bottom of the grill snapped in all the way.... With the scarcity and price of our grills, we may start seeing a lot more after markets....

They are both nice. I like the billet style better unless you could get a mesh one like this (Which bye the way you cannot):

Actually the pieces of my grill might be imbedded in the front of a big Pickup Truck. I think it was a Ford.

Now that got me laughing.... Let us know when you decide the direction that you are going. And.... in the mean time, it actually looks pretty sweet with those 2 big K&N's showing in the front.

Thanks to everyone for there help. I went with the Billett grill and lowers that morgan pointed me at. I figure 545 shipped was not bad especially since they did not charge me extra for the polished ones. I will let you know how they fit and post picts when I get6 them it should be next week some time since they have to make them.

Related to the Autoxclusive discount for crossfireforum members I discovered the discount code crossfire20 which gave a 15% discount for us had expired. I contacted James and he issued a new discount code Xfire10 which is a 10% discount. Good enough for me to go ahead and buy the chrome grill cover set.

That's the one I went with in Dec 2008, on my white coupe. I liked it because it elongated the front with a smooth "shovel" look and really filled up the front end. Oldman also showed a nice one that fits deeper into the front recess, more of an upright billet, and that looked good too. The one we got was originally called the "donoutwest" grille for the member who came up with it, but apparently got the idea stolen from him along the way. The good news is that with an eventual DAI there will be a tad more room for the filters up front.
