Intake Valve Covers Leaking
I just got back from getting my 6 serviced @ Carmax and they said that both my rear intake covers are starting to leak. Have any of you guys replaced your gaskets and if so was it a hard DIY? Thanks in advance.
If you're talking about your air intake boxes, they seal against the filter. If the filter is installed right, there should be no issue.
If you're talking about the manifold plenums, make sure that the bolts are torqued down to spec.... you should be seeing some issues with the engine running if you have a leak here though. Worst case, get a set of NW gaskets and intall them. Easy DIY and cheap....
How did they determine there was a leak??

The factory plenum gaskets are actually metal, they would be hard to go bad if you have never taken them out and damaged them. Check the torque on the bolts and make sure that they are tight. Are you having a problem with power or whistling sounds?
Maybe he is just trying to jack you up for some extra business.......

Is it leaking oil? I'm guessing this has nothing to do with intake plenums and everything to do with the valve covers. It's a simple fix and will take you about an hour depending on how handy you are with a wrench.
Good luck with the fix

I'll bet they were referring to the crankcase ventilation plenum covers on top the valve covers...those don't have gaskets (they're assembled onto valve covers with silicone bead) and they leak notoriously.
