Default Fuel Mod Update

Okay it looks like Rob has got the cure for running lean at least with a 181 pulley I cannot speak for the 185 crowd but I think this would be a big step forward for them. I have my system just about dialed in now so that the leanest it gets is 12.5 AFR it is still a little rich on the bottom end but do to my tune I think it will only be fixed by a retune. We will see.

This was accomplished by a fuel pressure regulator that is tied to boost so for every pound of boost you get an additional pound of fuel. we control the fuel pressure boost using a ztronic hooked up to a pair of solenoids that open and close set at a specific rpm so that you are not getting to rich on the bottom end. The reason for 2 solenoids is that you need to vent the pressure to keep your fuel curve flattened out. The final fix in this odyssey was a Walbro fuel pump from Rob I went from mid 13's afr to 12.0afr and had to dial back my pressure from 70psi to right at 65. I am still tweaking everything but it is looking really good. Once I get done setting everything I will just need to get a new dyno tune to lean the bottom end out a little and life should be great. Then I can start thinking about Meth will the madness never end.

Last friday at OSW I ran back to back 12.345 with a 1.701 60ft and my fuel curve is better today than it was friday so tomorrow night should be fun.

I cannot say enough about Rob and how he has worked so closely with me to help get this fixed I know at times I have been a huge pain in his *** but he has just kept on going. Thanks Rob for all of your support.

Of course a major CUDO'S to Woody I guess it figures that he had his hands involved with this. Once again Woody is the man.

32Krazy, please keep us up to speed on the Track day. I'm happy with my tune at the moment, love the new power. But, I'm still wanting to get back on the dyno for a pull or 3 to see what the HP/TQ is, as I think they may
have been reading low after the 12 pulls the last go around. Think I was rather heat soaked by that time.

Thanks,

Coyote

Looks like the crappy weather will make you wait until Friday to see how it does.

Why not just add a closed-loop wideband control of AFR using an alcohol controller and inject E85 for more fuel?

E85 is hard to find here. I prefer to use straight Gas ethanol is to hard on all the rubber components.

Rob,

Any update on total cost for the fuel upgrade you were pulling together?

Yeah, I would like a price with the zeitronix just to see what the damage would be. Sucks for guys like myself that don't use the zeitronix.

I completely agree since I don't use the zeitronix either (though I thought about buying one since JRI won't make anymore triple pillar pods ... )

Anyways. I am curious to see if you could use a similar FPR and completely map it based on the ECU, or attach it to the ECU signal based off of fuel delivery from the fuel pump... that way it wouldn't be essential to have a zeitronix and could still solve some people's leaning issues.

So many different things on the table for the car...the season can't get here fast enough...

ZAHANMA and distantpulse, if you are going to keep these cars a while and mod them i would really suggest the datalogger. I had the pillar pod and as cool as it was it cant even compare with being able to record and replay each parameter and compare them up and down the graph to understand how it all corresponds. No doubt it is not pocket change but will pay for itself in the long run. I might add that i dont even bother with the dyno anymore. These cars dont act the same on the street, that has been proven with Gangmember and my car.

On a side note Distanpulse, sorry to hear about the job man. Call on unemployment immediately. Heard it might be too late with something they just passed, but if your in time it will help you tremendously.

A couple of Arroquip Y blocks and an MSD High pressure auxiliary fuel pump, regulator, relay and filter running parallel to the stock fuel filter (w/built in regulator) and problem solved.
