Dangerously close to taking the leap from Limited to SRT-6 - opinions needed
Thank you all for the input. I will post here once I take the test drive. I believe that in my position, being that I am young and in certrain respects naive, wanting more power doesn't seem all too far off base. I understand some members would prefer the manual transmission with a less powerful engine because you truly do feel in tune with the car. That being said, I am in love with the idea of owning a sleeper car, admired by those who know its markings but ignored by those who do not, as well as the knowledge that although I choose not to, my car could burn most of the cars on the road.

[quote=amx1397]for that amount of miles you could do better offer him 500. less because of miles or just look around for one with less than 30,000 miles on it jim i do not own and i have not seen this car.
2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 - $19900 (Boynton Beach)
I just picked up one of these last year; '05 Roadster w/ only 14,615 on it. I paid right at KBB for it, $19,995 or so.
Sadly, I made the mistake of giving my wife a key, and now she drives it everytime I'm out of town, and is trying to convince me she needs one too!
FYI- Waldig is in Woodbridge and is a wealth of info on mods, what to look for, etc. I hope to catch up to him when I'm home for a while.

Here's what ya do kid....go buy a starter house ASAP. (you're going to need the deductions now that ya got a good job & house prices & interest rates are as low as they have ever been)....once you close....submit your claim for the $8,000 TAX CREDIT. This is real cash (not a deduction).....take the $6K + the $8k Obama gives ya & pay cash for that SRT6!!!
My daughter & son in law got their check for $8,400 (+interest?) last week..it was in the mail when they came back from Hawaii.....
You'll own your own home, have a hot rod, & tail chasing you constantly!!

Hey man cut me a break - I need a few more years before I buy a house! But that does sound like a good plan for the right person. I don't want a mortgage yet (in spite of low rates). I just graduated college!
Well, if you change your mind.....go to your county tax appraiser's website.....you can look up any address & find out what the official state tax appraisal is.....find one on realtor.com....that someone is selling for less than what the official tax appraisal is (that suggests they need to move or dump the property)....& offer $10K less....
If you're paying rent right now....you'll be shocked how comparable it would be to actually buy a house + you'll get to deduct the interest & real estate taxes off your taxable income....
That there is some of that wise-old-man **** you should listen to....

Good luck with your shopping.
That is a lot of mileage for that price. I would stick to the $14,000 figure, not a penny more. Just go check it out on a nice day when you can see any imperfections in the car. Good luck.
The only thing that turned me away from the srt6 is the fact that they are automatics.
I despise automatics, my daily isnt even automatic.
I can make up the power gap with my 6spd na, just takes more effort to do so

well, here soon I'll find out just what it takes to break the gearbox... and the dual mass flywheel (piece of total **** imo) waiting for an excuse to pull my car apart so I can send the flywheel off to fidanza for an aluminum replacement
SRT all the way. My wife had a NA roadster, she traded it 2 months ago for an SSR. I have the 6 and plan to keep it. Will be doing some mods shortly. The bottom line for me is the power of the SRT6 far surpasses not having a manual transmission. The price seems a little high for a car with 44K. But getting the car at the right price for you makes it even a sweeter deal. Good Luck!
