Help Please!!
Guys I know it's somewhere on the forum but I'm on my iPhone hard to use,
long story short my idler pully got destroyed and my belt with it, i managed to find another idler pully for the time being but I need a belt,
I'm currently at gates and the guy is telling me my belt is a 6 rib (pk) or however they say it when I know it's physically an 8 rib, he said if I give him the dimension of the belt he will find me an 8 rib in the blue compound. So does anyone know the exact dimension of the belt? Thanks in advance guys

I ordered the Gates #K081145 from Rockland auto for 52.xx Delivered. It is also 115.3". I don't think you should see any slippage. I think the bigger pulley's put to much strain on the tensioner and don't allow it to move enough when loading and unloading the motor. This results in the belt trying to stretch because the tensioner can't move enough which breaks the belt because something has to give. I think the longer belt will allow the tensioner to go back closer to it's normal position and do it's job. As far as slip you shouldn't experience any more then what you would have normally with a belt driven super charger set-up. I would check your tensioner out before the new belt just to make sure nothing broke inside.
Hope it helps

Here are some pictures of the MB factory belt for a SLK32 if it will help you cross reference

Thanks so much guys he's having a look for me now, steve since my idler pully is finished it may be a good opportunity to get that kit you were working with rob, that includes the idler pully doesn't it?

Thanks Steve, they have a belt but instead of 2390mm its 2385mm, he assures me it will fit and he said if I had any belt slip it will definatly go due to the belt being 5mm smaller. I hope he's right, I'll get it tomorrow.
Now to find a proper idler pully, the one I have on there currently is a 6 rib idler pully, seems to be doing the job, but for how long I dont know lol

1202000470 is the part # for the small idler pulley next to the s/c. im guessing thats the 1 you need?
i wouldnt use the 6 rib pulley with the 8 rib belt it will prolley eat the belt or at least cause it to slip off.
as for the belt being 5 mm smaller thats quite a bit. when its installed look just behind the tensioner and you will see the slot were the tensioner rides. should be centered. to much either way may break the tensioner or the belt. this job is 10 times easier if you pull the fan out first. it takes seconds and gives tons more room to work in

I figured it might not work aswell BUT I have the Code3 s/c pulley and thats I think about 6mm smaller then the stock S/C pulley so it should all balance it's self out (I hope)

The Idler pulley and the tensioner pulley are the EXACT same pulley from the factory. I went through this when I was looking for a new tensioner pulley. I had to buy a new tensioner assy and then found that the pulley is identical to the Idler pulley.......
The factory belt is 114.5 inches long, inside to inside, and 115.3 inches on the outside. There was a lengthy discussion on this a while back. It is confusing because Gates makes a 114.5" belt and a 115.3" belt. I used the 115.3" with my 181mm crank pulley to relieve some of the tension on my tensioner and all the pulley's....

Thanks Mike, I was just looking at them and you're right they are identical, I might go with the 114.5 because I'm running just the code 3 s/c pulley so it might work out just right, thanks again mike.
