Killed a Supra

Haven't been on the same track as one yet. There haven't been any MarkIV Supras at Atco the times that I've gone.
BPU supras are generally pretty fast. but then again they are older cars and therefore are becoming high maintenance. Maybe the guy was pulling time. had a boost leak... had a bad turbo, exhaust leak, slipping clutch, grindin gear.... the list can go on forever. your srt-6 is a consistent mid/low 12 second car while i bet you the supra can run 11's on a good day and high 12's on a bad day. maybe you just caught him on a bad day..... but hey it DOES happen.
no more excuses for a supra,( Paul,) x ray beat him and that is all that counts,,, think, if you every raced someone and your ic pump failed, they won, and that is it .. no matter if he had something wrong or not, he did stay close behind so he must have been trying hard not to loose,,,,,,concrads paul great kill. jim

I rally with a bunch of guys with BMW M's, Nissans, and there's a guy with a supra that puts down something like 500whp... sounds awful though. I'm the only one that keeps up with him. But then I bring up car payments and shuts up pretty quick.

I wouldnt call it a 10 year old ricer. It has a bulletproof engine along with reliabilty. Is it overpriced? Hell yes but hey We dont control pricing, the market does. Im not a fanboy or have wet dreams about this car. But damn it sure is capable of making ridiculous power.

Okay after looking at the pics of the supra's posted up earlier it looks like this must have been a late 80's model but it was in such good shape I thought it was newer. It looked a little like the old Triumph TR-7 in the front end and had a fairly square rear end with what looked like a factory wing. Sorry guy's my bad I don't know ricers as well as american muscle since they have never been my thing. I still can't believe I bought a v6 instead of a big v8 as much as I luv my crossfire I miss the sound of a big block.I have to admit I do like the scream of the super charge thru the dual cai.

c6 z06 makes 615rwhp. its a road race car, not a drag car. Any ****** can make a car go fast in a straight line.
My 240 is a drift car, we dont time that...
and my crossfire is really just eh, sitting in the garage.

All im saying is drag racing isnt really a sport imo. Anyone can take a fast car and drive it in a straight line, it takes talent to take a fast car around a road track,
And as for as my knowledge, i worked for a local suspension mfg, I was part of the Factory yamaha ama team, my dad was a husqvarna factory rider, in addition to walter mitty racer, bmw/supra/whatever had wheels builder, my mom worked at road atlanta. I grew up around fast cars and fast race tracks. Its become part of my life and I know quite a bit about cars, having built many 500+hp hondas/240s

personally i can see there is skill required for both road course and drag racing since i have done both.
glad you grew up around "fast" cars and "fast" tracks. that is wonderful and i am super impressed. it definately eclipses anything anyone else on the net has ever done i am sure.
i will let you guys get back to bench racing, please be careful though and keep it safe because it can get dangerous.

Drag racing is a major sport, and I believe bigger then drifting, and takes ALOT of skill, for example my friend and I went to the track yesterday his car is good for low 11's his best was 12.6, another friend who was in the crowd said let me try and do a run (hes a great driver) first run got 11.9 followed by an 11.5.
That shows how much skill and driver experience plays its part in getting more then a second difference in the q/mile.
But each to there own I guess.
As Bob and Tim have said theres no need to be disrespectful to a sport that many memebers on here are apart of and attend quite frequently.

I dont know why i said that.
thats whats happens afte a long night of partying with no sleep.
I've tried drag racing, its no fun. The skill to a drag race is the launch. dont bog, dont spin. other than that its simple.
drag racing is popular, sadly, just like nascar. people love seeing things with big motors go fast.

LOL, thats funny..... not only do you want to alienate drag racers, but NASCAR fans as well. Are you sure you are from Georgia?
So what is it about NASCAR that you are opposed to? I guess you think any (in your words) ****** can keep making left turns. No skill required there right. You are a piece of work.

I hate nascar. It serves no purpose. A left hand turn... A sport fueled by rednecks and beer. nascar was fun when it wasnt about standards, when a company brought out there production hot rod, put safety equipment on it and went... not restrictor plate, template this, etc.
Hell, it took nascar 50 years to discover this little thing called downforce.
You do know what nascar stands for right? Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks.
I was born here, but I dont like it here. Too much southern this, southern that. I hate country music, nascar, the dukes of hazzard, the confederate flag, republicans, religion, any sport involving an oval or straight line, and i hate fried food.
What i do like. AMA Superbike, LeMans, WERA, WSB, F1, SCCA, fine beer
