Supercharger Noise
Hello folks, I have a question about our superchargers. Over the weekend I was cleaning the engine bay and was cleaning the black pulley behind the clutch for the supercharger, and noticed that when I would spin it back and forth there is a small clunking noise every time you spin it back and forth coming from the inside, no side to side play or back and forth play in the shaft or pulleys, just the noise from back and forth spining, also does not sound like any grinding noise, it feels like a worn out key way on a shaft. Has any one else found this problem? if it is a problem in fact or is this normall ? Just want to find out before the blower goes out. Thanks in advance, Kevin
Well I was worried about the internal workings of the S/C were wearing out, if you hold and just rock the black engadement S/C drive pully behind the S/C clutch, { enine off, cold or warm } clockwise and counter clockwise with one hand, you will hear a light sounding clunk in either direction from inside the charger assembly. This is caused by the design of the internal workings, and believe it to be a normall condition by comparing it with a known good S/C assembly. All though I have not been able to find a complete exploded veiw of the S/C to say exactly whats in there, but its free play within the assembly.
