Yes it's true. I was looking at the local prices on Crossfires and dreaming of getting a second one and lo and behold I stumbled upon a 2006 SRT-6 NEW (never titled) at a dealer here in Puerto Rico. I still haven't been out to confirm/look at it and get the ViN. They are asking $40,000 but who knows what they would except.

Unless the dollar really devalues, they are unlikely to get $40K until Barret Jackson's great grandson makes them an offer in the year, say, 2050.
Of course by then there will be no gasoline available in Puerto Rico and the dealer may settle for $39,900.00

Or perhaps somebody who made a killing on the stock market blip last week will pop for it.

True Frank, but if you don't ask for it you don't have a starting point. Mine started at $45,000. I offered $25,000. In the end I paid $35,000 with an extended warranty of 7 years. Did I pay too much? I don't know but it's the best $35,000 car I've ever owned. I hope your not going to ride me about the $39,999.99 not being $40,000.00 like some so with 1/4 mile times.
