Woody, glad to hear the update. I am assuming this will work across all XF platforms, not just the SRT?

woody I am so glad u r working on the throttle body lag,, i was going to install a throttle cable on my peddleto a new throttle body ,,(replace the throttle body with one that i could hook up a cable) and take the factory one and mount it on the firewall so it would get the signal, and the cpu would think every thing was fine ...,, thus getting rid of the fly by wire. I just need to find a throttle body that uses a cable and will bolt up to the SC. jim

I was wondering if taking the motor out of the TB and having it re-wound for more RPMs would help???

What am I missing? The newer SB in race mode seems instant to me; how can it be any better than that? You guys know something I don't, (and that wouldn't be too hard).
With Waldigs impressive Mod creations/contributions, I'm guessing if anyone can do it, it would be him. So I look forward to your success Woody. Bob

It sounds great Bob, but it's $350! I kinda like the DIY approach.

I hear you Tunaglove, but with no alternative other than to live with the ridiculous lag, I just had to pony up / bite the bullet and do it...... But; good things are worth waiting for as they say. And hopefully any new alternative to SB will cost less than $329, or as w/ most new techno-goodies, in time, the price usually drops quite a bit. Right now SB has no competition that I'm aware of. Bob
EDIT: (Except Woody)

My instant is not instant with either the sb or the velocity booster. Actually can go into a corner and hit the gas to the floor and shout 1 - 2 -3 before it goes full up.

The idea of using a cable tb Would be interesting but I considered that and decided that since the tb is driven by a 100 microsecond pulse train of both open and close pulses, that the computer would throw a code.

One of my other ideas was to adapt the hemi 4" custom tb (1200$) but calculated that it was only 30+% bigger and no faster, so I deep sixed (pun) that idea too. I have already laid out coin on my parts store and purchased a few goodies from Ebay motors to do testing on my car next month. I have a confidence of over 95% that it will be without issue and perform well.

If I get my goal of 100% faster, (half as much delay) and more power it will be good. Since the leaning thing is over for me now that I got that working, this is the next logical step to make the car compeditive. Remember that I used to get beat all the time in tighter courses, and that I will correct, so help me Forum.

Btw if your drove the tb with Nitrogen or gunpower, the computer controls the rate that it opens and that is very precisely controlled. I had thought about adding in a log OP amp to change the curve coming out of the throttle position sensor so that the computer thought that it was going TOO SLO and try to fool it into driving it faster. THat may work but could seriously affect drivability and bring on additional complications, so it went into the dust bin as well, along with many other half baked thoughts. { cutting the tb closing spring; changing the motor; adding more voltage to the motor circuit; adding a "on spring for more go"; adding a cable to the pedal and pulling it forward: all try to fight the computer......I fought the computer and the computer won.

THis car is an engineers sand box as there are many issues to improve upon. TO date the cooling, fuel delivery and camber settings are corrected now, drivability is the focus.

Thank you for explaining that to me Woody. I understood most of it. Like I said in an earlier post; you racers would of course be the best to judge. I obviously haven't taken the 6 to the limits like you to experience the lag that still haunts. At the risk of exposing my ignorance, I ask this; Is this lag definitely 100% TB related, or is some of it SC related? Bob

I just autocrossed at that same stadium a few weeks ago...and it rained on us too!

I just got my SRT-6 and have noticed some weirdness with throttle response. I did not realize that these cars were wireless throttle. Glad I read through this thread and will keep an eye out for the DIY info to fix this problem.

Thanks!
