Default my engine broke down

Hi GUYS, last time i had 2 problems with intercooler and transmission and resolved them, and now finally i found my engine dead, the block of cylinders is damaged got a big scratch that is not able to polish.
I decide to shave 3mm of the cylinders to a bigger size then put 3mm cartridge-case and back the cylynders size diametr to stock, with losing the scratch , did any one from has ever done it on your cars?

Back in the old days when we had to get out score marks we used a hone and a counter balanced electric drill on a pulley.
Kind of crude but so were we. It did work and it was cheaper than having it done professionally. We cut of any lip made by wear.
I do not think I would do this on our engines, get it reground and fit new rings, maybe even pistons, depends on amount of metal removed. It may be better to get a new engine depends on your mileage.

As you may know, this is not a typical problem that occurs with normal wear. How many miles on your engine? And do you know the cause of this failure? Bob
