Permagrin Whiplash
Today, I got to experienced my first "Permagrin Whiplash" test driving an SRT6. All my wife could say was "whoa" as she was pinned to her seat. This car is more than fast. Wow! Thanks for your advice to my earlier post "SRT6 Advice."
Now the official search for an SRT6 begins. The car I test drove today has 12,000 miles...a second owner car...price is $19,500.00. This car looks to be over priced based on what I have read on this forum.
Questions:
1) Is it fair to assume I can expect to pay $16,000 to $18,000 for a coupe in excellent condition with less than 30,000 miles?
2) Is there a maximum mileage you recommend I don't exceed when purchasing a used SRT6?
3) What are the pros and cons of purchasing a stock SRT6 verse an SRT6 with modifications?
4) Things to look for when purchasing a used SRT6?
Thanks for your help and encouraging me to experience the "permagrin whiplash."

Not a bad price for a car with 12k.
If it is the color you want, offer a little less and see if you can deal. If you are in the north, fall is coming and the dealer will certainly deal on a "summer" car.
If I didn t have one I would have likely taken it at that price, 12k is pretty desireable.
2. Less is usually better just because of wear & tear, and maintainence is always an unkown.
3. Toss up - there are limited mods for the SRT, so there really are only a couple of real options. I prefer original so I can mod and I get to keep the original parts.
4. Seat heaters, I/C pump, tires, leaky trans, curb rash, RCM, then general condition and service records.
All are pretty easy fixes if needed.

That good news, Khotani. I'm happy you found one to drive!

This car looks to be over priced based on what I have read on this forum. Depends - personally, that's not a bad price, IMHO. I purchased mine w/ 9900 miles for 19.9K & felt it was a good deal.

1) Is it fair to assume I can expect to pay $16,000 to $18,000 for a coupe in excellent condition with less than 30,000 miles? Affirmative.
2) Is there a maximum mileage you recommend I don't exceed when purchasing a used SRT6? Like 70 mentions above; less is more but it depends on what you find out there & how you feel about mileage vs. price. Personally, depending on price, I would have no problem buying another one w/ 50K or above.
3) What are the pros and cons of purchasing a stock SRT6 verse an SRT6 with modifications? I would get nervous if i saw a bunch of mods. on a car that I didn't put there but that's just me. Still, there is something to be said for having the mods. already installed - saves you the time, cash & possible headaches.
4) Things to look for when purchasing a used SRT6? Repair history, if possible! Tires because they're expensive. Dents, dings, rust (especially under the doors & around the spoiler). Condition of obvious engine stuff: hoses, belts, battery. Interior smell & condition. Make sure all the goodies for the emergency tire repair kit are all there. Make sure you get 2 keys!

Glad you got the GRIN! The $$$ is slightly high, but then again, if it's a nice ride, it's worth that... jmo of course.
Think about that grin... how much is THAT worth ?!?!?! LOL
Enjoy.
