Funny you mention that i need to get my filters and pulley off and put the stock ones back on because they surely wont adjust the price of the car with them .

I am very sorry to hear this.

But I am happy to hear that you where able to walk away with minor injuries. I hope the driver of the other car gets punsihed hard. Will people never learn not to drink and drive??? God....

And another XF gone, damn it.

What actually happens to the car now, since its been declared "totaled"? Will it be scraped??.....

just wondering.

You need the services of a hungry and competent lawyer. That is primary since your safe now. Woody

Consignment at about 30%, no out of pocket, remember that they are your hired guns and if you dont like the activities, fire the lawyer and get another. DO NOT TAKE THE FIRST ONE YOU SEE.

A similar thing happened to Deb Walker - she got enough $$ for another car, a set of new tires, a battery, a flight to Michigan to get the car, etc.... And to the best of my knowledge, she STILL has not settled the medical claim.

Your car, I am SURE, is totalled Mayhem. Carmax has a similar SRT for $20,147 Hope this link works.

Get a GOOD lawyer. THere are times in your life that a good blood-sucking lawyer is your best friend. Times like this, in fact.

That's just tragic. Glad you're OK though.
Has anybody been keeping a "body count" of SRT's?

We are hopping to also push the fact that this is a very limited production car and that true value can't be fully determined by current market value. On a side note my lawyer is a parapalegic that actually became a lawyer after suffereing for injuries that happened to him after a severe car accident.

THe woman and her passanger weren't even injured during the accident manly due to her only having the front end collision and hitting me instead of face first into the median and possibly worse. I'm going for nothing less than the woman replacing the true value of the vehical in such a way that i can purchase another similar mileage/condition crossfire at a similar amount left on the note of that vehical 11,500. and of coarse medical exspenses built up due to the accident.
Glad you're OK. More important than the car is the potential for unknown health issues. Make sure you are checked out and have a follow-up. The body often has issues from an accident well past the actual event.

As far as the car -- there are so many ways to search and find these cars now, I'd suggest checking all national sites -- and be specific about year, color, equipment, mileage etc. The more narrow the target for replacement, the more likely it is the insurance company will look to the higher priced vehicle as their baseline. If they say they can replace it for X but it's in red -- and you don't want red, then that's one factor that can be used to push back with. Having a low production vehicle wil likely help too.

Good luck.

Wow, glad you made it out of that alive. That is terrible, I hope you sue her for everything she has.

I hope you do not have any long term issues from the wreck, a lot of times you do not know you are hurt for a few days after the impact.

I will sell you my srt6 if you need one at a high price

Wow, sorry for the loss but glad you weren't hurt worse. It's too bad BLKFIN just sold his. It would have been the perfect replacement.

I was just thinking that too, I'm sure I can put mine up on autotrader for somewhere around $25k and you can print it out and show it to them. Haha... completely kidding.

When an insured car is totaled, it now belongs to the insurance company (they pay the owner for the car). The insurance company send it to an auction. Buyers aren't there looking for scrap. They either buy the vehicle to repair it, get a salvage title, and re-sell it, or, a company like LKQ buys it to strip off the good parts and sell them to auto repair shops (many insurance companies specify LKQ (Like Kind & Quality) parts (i.e. used parts off a wrecked vehicle) in their repairs.

Why would anyone buy it to repair it if the insurance company has deemed the cost of repair to be higher than the value of the car? Because they base it on the retail cost of the repair. A body shop, or someone doing the repair themselves can do it for much less than the retail cost. As a single example, a body shop would charge somewhere in the neighborhood of $5,000 for a complete paint job. If I paint my car myself, I can do it for a few hundred dollars in materials.
