Default brakes on srt 6

Can someone tell me what the brakes on a srt 6 are supposed to look like.. Are they painted from the factory, and are they heavier than the standard crossfire??

thanks..

They are painted black and are dual piston sliding calipers on the front and one piston on the rear. Not sure about the weight but being bigger than the regular Crossfire I'd guess is they are a little heavier.

I worded that incorrectly... I was meaning heavier duty..

I am looking to buy a srt6, and was looking at pictures of the one I am interested in, and wondered if it had the srt6 brakes, or if someone has changed them for the standard crossfire brakes.. My original understanding was that the srt had heavier duty brakes.. but not having ever seen a srt6 in person, have no idea what they are supposed to look like..

any specific ideas of what to look for as far as brakes goes, that I can see from pictures, would be helpfull

thanks for your answer

dale.

The stock SRT6 front brakes are a two piston(one side) caliper, black and are a bit heavy and a 330mm rotor. The rear brakes are a two piston(one on each side) that is the same as the MB C32 rear. There are several threads for upgrading the front with MB calipers/rotors that just bolt on the SRT6...

SRT6 Front Brake Calipers

Easy way to spot the rear SRT6 brakes is to look at the rotor, the SRT6 rear rotor is vented (like the left rotor) and the N/A is solid (like the right rotor).

One thing about the SRT OEM Brakes is the dust. With the SRT wheels it is hard to keep them clean. I just changed over to Akebono brake pads. No more dust, however the performance is not quite as good as the OEM. Okay for the type of driving I do since no track time for me.

Black, Yes they are much "healthier" than the standard Crossfire.
Size wise once you've seen them side by side you'll never mistake standards for SRT. If you can take a tape with you and do a rough messurement.
13.5" SRT fronts.
Also the rear SRT brakes are a dual vented disk. I think the standard Crossfire has an unvented rear.
If the rear disks look the size of a Grapefruit, would scare you to put your life in their hands they are the Standard.
