Default how good is it for a daily?

ive always really wanted a crossfire and im starting to save up for a car to replace my one i have now. i really want an Srt-6, but i live in NJ and idk if it be that practicle as my DD, the other car i was lookn at is a FJ Cruiser (allot more practicle i think)

anyone here use an Srt6 as there daily car? in road conditions that arent perfect roads allot of dumps.... and how are they driven in winter in snow?

any help would be greatly appreciated

one last thing about how much do SRT-6's go for now? i want one with below 50k miles

Great summer car - I drive daily to work. Ok in the wet with good tires.

Good luck in the snow - I won't even try, and if you did try, you'll need the best snow tires money can buy. (And a winter "beater" car would be just as cheap.)

there are two 2005 SRT6's on Ebay, both with lower mileage:

Chrysler : Crossfire: eBay Motors (item 250693649925 end time Sep-14-10 08:33:02 PDT)

Chrysler : Crossfire: eBay Motors (item 280554617109 end time Sep-17-10 15:28:43 PDT)

i live in calif where the 6 would be great, for me, as a daily. i also own an '06 4runner which is similar to the FJ but my daily is an '07 scion tc. if i were forced to choose one car and had no room or resources for anything else, i would choose the 4runner. as you said, its a lot more practical even though each car can be made to do double-duty (i'm really glad the 6 coupes have hatches. i've put quite a few things back there). i've heard crazy things about the condition of ny/nj roads and the FJ would be able to handle it all with the least amount of hassle/adaptation and has many upsides to your location. that said, i love my 6's and would never sell either of them (yes, it greatly helps to live in a warm weather state).

I have used my Crossfires as daily drivers for the past two years. One winter in Chicago, and this past winter in NJ...as long as you put on snow tires, and maybe some extra weight in the back you'll be fine. Well of course assuming you know how to not press the gas pedal, which is difficult in a SRT-6.

Wow, already looking, and not ready to buy for another year. You need to hook up with PizzaGuy. The two of you might have a lot in common. LOL

Good luck. You will love the SRT.

I ride my Harley most of the time, including winter (as long as there is no snow or ice on the roads). I have a car for times when the bike won't do. Got rid of a Grand Cherokee when I got the XFire. On a few rare occasions, I miss having a Jeep. ... But I also find I don't wait for bad weather to drive the XFire. I probably take it as often as I do the bike. Sweet ride!

the crossfire does fine in illinois snow, you just need blizzaks on the back and nice front tires because the front tends to drift side to side a bit

You can get 265/35/19 V rated Blizzaks (LM-25s) on Tire Rack for $136 right now.......I paid $105 about 6 months ago...put them on about 1000 miles ago & am happy so far!

The Crossfire is plenty capable of driving in the snow. If they keep the roads plowed pretty decent then you will be fine with some all season tires. It's best to have snow tires but they cost as much as good all season tires so it's up to you to decide. I have driven a Mazda Miata for about 2 years in the snow with all season tires and it does it just fine. Just don't drive like you normally would. Take things slow and steady and don't drive on the road if there is a good 2 inches of snow on the road. I bought my Crossfire last February and drove in a couple of snow storms on bald summer tires before I got my new ones in March. Though a bit skid-dish it was completely manageable. I plan to drive my Crossfire daily throughout the winter with all season tires. Best of luck!

thats the one thing im really worried about, and there arent many roads in nj without them..... how is it on space in the trunk? like about how much can it fit, ive only test driven two but never took the time to look at the trunk area

and ive been planning to buy one of these for like 3 years now i love cars that you dont see everyday and Xf is deff. one of them

oh but does anyone on here live in Union, NJ? a few months ago i saw an srt6 on the side of the road and looked like they were hit or hit someone, they were rite behind some other car both standing outside their cars

Well in the Coupe models there is plenty of space compared to other two seaters. If you want an SRT-6 roadster you won't like the space you get in the trunk with the top down. You won't be able to fit much at all. When I say not much I mean maybe a couple bags of groceries or something like that.

The cars can be expensive to maintain when compared to other cars. If you do oil changes yourself it will cost you a good $80 and about $120 at the stealership. These cars can have problems like any other car but so far so good with mine. Most of the time it's just little things that people have problems with. Nothing ever really major yet. But when it comes time to do some maintenance that requires dealership work you can expect some high prices. These cars have a lot of Mercedes components so be ready to fork out the $$$. All in all it's a great car and I would never give mine up. Everyone on this forum will point you in the right direction and they are all great people so don't be afraid to ask many questions! Best of luck!
