SRT exterior conversion to N/A
Hi,
As you probably have read before on the forum I am keen on getting a SRT and making it into a white N/A. Have a couple of questions regarding the exterior challanges when doing the conversion.
For instance,
1. The rear wing, easy to remove and install a N/A wing that will work, extend itself when moving faster than 60mph?
2. is the SRT lower than the N/A?
3. can I fit the N/A wheels onto a SRT without any difficulties? will it look the same as on the N/A? (regards to lowering etc.)
4. Side skirts? look the same on the N/A?
5. Front-lip, easy to remove and put on the N/A one?
Interior,
the rear wing has a switch in the N/A. can this be put in somwhow into the N/A and being funtional?
Are there any other differences that will be difficult to convert?
Maybe you ask why in the h**l is he trying to do this? well, I have a N/A today and want the engine. It is not possible (or at least not worth it) to change the engine yourself. So I am interested in getting a SRT, convert it, re paint it in white and thus be the only white SRT looking like the N/A. But speedwise I will be able to fight off porsches.

You will be out the exact amount of money, if not more, by doing a repaint, new interior, new wheels, new bumpers, etc etc etc.
With your proximity to Germany, I'm shocked that no one there can put the 32 motor into your N/A.
You can probably find those motors in decent shape for $4,000

The paintjob $3k (US)
The rims $600
Rear wing is my biggest worries...
17k = 111000 SEK
a SRT is sold in sweden for about 299000 SEK which means I get 150000 SEK cheaper and a custom made one. What I will do with the N/A I have today is the biggest mystery though... Maybe sell it. I can get about 20k tomorrow if I put it out on an ad.

I think its time you put your money where your mouth is. Talks cheap.
one thing you may want to consider, is the reason the SRT6 has a fixed spoiler is that the NA one cannot deploy fast enough when accelerating, and thus makes the car dangerous over 62 mph, at least that's what I read a long time ago............

Thanks for enlightening me. We'll see what I do. Have not totally decided yet what to do. I hope you are satisfied with your situation at least. Did you see that tunes GT-R video? quite fast...

1. The rear wing, easy to remove and install a N/A wing that will work, extend itself when moving faster than 60mph? The SRT does not have the capability to deploy the automatic spoiler - you will have to install the proper hatch panel, wing, motor, harness and swap the "dead switch" on the SRT center console so you can deploy the spoiler manually.
2. is the SRT lower than the N/A? Not sure - but it is stiffer.
3. can I fit the N/A wheels onto a SRT without any difficulties? will it look the same as on the N/A? (regards to lowering etc.) Yes, should make no difference.
4. Side skirts? look the same on the N/A? Yes
5. Front-lip, easy to remove and put on the N/A one? You will have to do a bumper swap - and that will reduce free airflow to the Supercharger's heat exchanger
Interior,
the rear wing has a switch in the N/A. can this be put in somwhow into the N/A and being funtional? Again, with some wiring from the fuse panel back to the wing.
Are there any other differences that will be difficult to convert?

Pick your poison and your problems...
My advice is to trade your N/A for a SRT6 - The power will help you soon forget about the little spoiler, - You can always swap the wheels if you feel the need. I'm sure you won't have trouble finding a forum member willing to trade and for less then $500 you can soften up the ride.. or swap springs and shocks with a N/A owner..
Then paint it if your heart desires..

Okay, cool. many thanks for your opinion and thoughts. Hmm.. Well I do like both cars. It is just that I am turning 30 next year and feel that I do not want to be too boyracer with spoilers and such.Nevertheless, thansk again !
have a nice evening.

I am fairly new around here so dont take what I say as gospel but I do not beleive you will run into very many issues.
I have seen an SRT6 for sale that had converted to the pop up wing so it CAN be done. It wont be a direct bolt on though, you will have to do some wiring but shouldnt be TOO difficult.
Springs are the same size just stiffer, if you want a softer ride you could go with the N/A version but as for looks it should be the same.
Not sure on the wheels, the brakes MAY make it a close fit, I THINK you will be ok but worse case scenario a small spacer would work.
As already mentioned the side skirts are the same but the front "lip" is different and not a seperate peice, you would have to swap the entire bumper cover.
I actually admire your ambition to make the car what you want. I love the car in white and if it was offered in an SRT I would probably be looking for one. I dont have the time or cash to paint one and I like the SSB almost as well so no huge issue but I love the fact you are willing to make it happen.
I havent decided if I will go through with it but I really like the pop up spoiler so I may try to swap the SRT spoiler when I get my Crossfire... Not 100% sure yet, will keep the SRT spoiler for a while as it may likely grow on me.
While your location may make it difficult, the good side is, you can likely find someone with an N/A who will be happy to swap your parts out. Even if you paid to have the spoiler and bumper you traded to the other person painted, you would still come out ahead of trying to just buy them outright.

I would suggest replacing the NA engine with a SRT.
There is a brand new SRT engine listed on e-Bay for $4,800. (item#320602882499)And by the picture it appears that the tranny is attached with it.
I think this would be the cheapest way to go building a sleeper crossfire. Also you could sell the NA engine which would be applied to the cost of the new SRT engine.

It's easier to make a SRT-6 look like a na rather than put a wolf into a sheep's clothing.
PS
The tranny is not included, read the description.

Just to give you an idea of what an SRT would look like painted white, here is John's NA with the SRT spoiler added on. I have seen it in person, and it is a beautiful ride.
