Default IC Pump?

On my way home from work yesterday i noticed a big loss of power when I stomped on the throttle. I released and tried again with the same result. The sc wasn't engaging. I've learned so much from u guys so immediately I thought ic pump because of these symptoms, I would have lost it if it wasn't for this forum. I just want to be sure it is infact the ic pump? Today it was fine then spontaneously I got the same issue. Is this a matter of time before it completely gives up because itt sure seems like it. Is it safe to continue driving until I replace the pump?

Thanks guys

Yup, sounds like it's time for a new IC Pump. It won't hurt anything driving it except for your pride. . Also check fuse#13 before you replace the pump just to make sure it's not the fuse.

I would say pump as well...sometimes the temp sensor can go as well....but, usually it is just the pump...

Yes you got that right my pride is well gone when i couldnt even over take a camry.. It seems to be engaging 50% of the time and seems to engage more often if i feather the throttle. From higher speeds no sc at all
Thanks for the heads up ill get that checked as well

if it is kicking in and out, it is definetly the pump....once it cools a little it will engage...once she heats up, it disengages....

My symptoms were exactly the same. Just replaced my pump last week. Problem solved. Needswings has the IC pump you need. Just switch the top cover with the inlet/outlet. Rob was great to deal with.

My SRT-6 is doing the same thing but less frequently. After 20 minutes of driving it will have a dramatic loss of power that lasts for about one minute. Under harder driving or hot weather conditions it will happen a little more frequently. I got an IC Pump in the mail today from Needswings. That should fix the problem. Before ordering the IC pump, I replaced the inlet air temperature sensor and the EGR transducer valve. The inlet air temperature sensor did zero to help but it only cost $36.00 from Mercedes. I replace the EGR transducer valve because it had that error code; didn't fix the main problem but made the car run smoother - so it needed to be replaced. Good luck.

If you didnt know anything about cars you would think something really serious had occured to have such a drastic change in acceleration. Good to know these engines are bullet proof and at the end of the day its just a sub 200 dollar fix and your good as new. Its still the best car i have ever owned by a long shot. .

Almost certainly. I just replaced my co-worker's IC pump at 24,000 miles. His symptoms were exactly as you describe. Once warmed up, there was a huge loss of power during acceleration about half the time. I put in a Johnson pump and it now runs like new again.
