FML!!! Three diffs and a driveshaft in one year! GRRR
Well Paul and I got my car together tonight and I'll be damned if I didn't shell out yet another diff and on top of that, I destroyed the driveshaft too. WTF Never seen a driveshaft fail like this. It looked like it was spun on a loom. I'm not sure who is more p*ssed right now, me or Paul. We spent 4 hours putting the drivetrain back in my car and now it all has to come out again. I think that is what makes me so mad about it. I didn't even get 5 miles on it. Tow truck driver couldn't have been a bigger *sshole either even if he tried. Wasn't able to comprehend putting the car on the flatbed backwards so we could unload it on the lift so now it's facing the wrong direction. Bring out the very much hated wood blocks so I can get underneath the car. F*CK MY LIFE!!! Well this is just a great finish to the year I guess. Think I'm gonna pull the diff, zip tie up the axles and call it a day until spring. At least I don't have to pull the engine and trans. That would really just make me ripe. So depressing considering I missed the whole start of this year because of diff problems, missed everything after the dragon because the trans connector nut on the f'n cunductor plate in my car decided to take a dirt nap so the trans connector leaked so bad the fluid would almost run out of the trans as fast as you poured it in and now that we get it all put back together, another diff AND a driveshaft. Guess that's what happens when you try to make these little SSB's a little quicker.
On a positive note, we hooked the V-box up to Paul's car and bone stock with no go-fast mods, it's quicker than an SL65! Just wait till we start tinkering with it...
Guess it's time for bed, maybe I'll wake up and this was all just a really bad dream.

hate to hear that rudy. was it the fiber pack on the driveshaft that went? maybe the diff will be ok. let me know if i can help
No dice on the fiber pack Steve. We're talking shredded metal and crushed hearts. Back half of the driveshaft twisted it's self apart and took the diff with it. Or the diff took the driveshaft with it. Either way, it's not a pretty sight. I'll post pictures in the morning when I get it tore down.
As for helping me out, I'll take a bag of twenties! LOL

Hey Steve!
I've been telling people; "a bag of twenties" whenever they ask me if I need something for longer than Rudy's been alive and that is the first time I've seen that response! That's a good one!
But please don't send those kind of "twenties" to Rudy; he needs the other kind of twenties "$$" now
. Actually he needs to get his car turned around so the lift is free'd back up!
Damn Kids!
Damn Tow Truck Drivers!
And most of all Damn it - last night wasn't a bad dream!
Stay safe...

Sorry to here this happened.
You and I had a conversation about this a few weeks back, All that power finds the weak link.
If you guys need a hand, give me a shout and I will get there.
P.S.
Stay away from the twenties, You are too hard on rear ends.

Well at least you know all the weak links for sure... but it will be all worth it when your done. Spring will be here quick! and that beast will be alive
Would some of those little dollies they have that go under each wheel be useful? You can spin and move the car around like a piece of furniture. Sorry about your troubles. And when you said "I guess that's what happens when you try and make these a little faster" I just had to laugh. A little faster with muscle that twists driveshafts is some serious isht!!
Sorry Rudy, but I am sure you and Paul will get it all turned around soon. Had to be the biggest bummer when an exciting moment like that crapped out. Maybe we could all send you a twenty but you would have to get your own bag. What do you think guys?
Paul I have been waiting to hear about the mods for your car. Amazing stock but so much potiential left. Now every time I see something yellow....I feel the need for speed.
Maybe one day you guys can drop one of these in my coupe. All this R&D complete by then. LOL

Well I appreciated everyone's concern and yes, it will be back together soon, just would have been nice to be able to move the car around under it's own power. This pushing it around **** sucks! LOL Paul says my next mod needs to be a removable plate in the floor so I can flinstone the thing.
Here's a couple pictures of the new 3-piece driveshaft. Still on the fence as to the performance gains you get from it but you know it's one heck of a conversation piece.

Everyone take care and have a safe weekend.

WOW! One of our cars did that!
Time to revive the "one piece driveshaft" or "ACPT Driveshaft" threads again.

Paul and I think this has more to do with the diff locking up than the power going to the rear tires. His car has almost 7k on it since the swap and we haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. My only concern now besides getting a new diff and driveshaft is if it did anything to the transmission in the process which would be just a b!tch of a deal as you can't find out until you put everything back in the car so at that point, if it did do something to the trans, we get to do the same thing we did when this happened, put everything in to just take it back out.
Precautionary rebuild anyone? LOL
On a side note, it's snowing in MN with a SW wind bringing all that white **** this direction so probably a good thing that I'm not driving the car any more. I wish I was a bear and could just hibernate through this stuff and come back out in spring when it turns nice again. Heck, I might even lose a few lbs between now and then!

Rudy,
That really sucks man! I wish I was closer, I would definitely give you a hand tearing it apart and pushing it around the garage.
Good luck with the rebuild.
