Bad Pulse Module = SuperCharger and Heated Seat Failure?
Hey folks,
My SRT-6 is at the dealer for some post-purchase problems, one of which is a SuperCharger that's exhibiting intermittancy that everyone here says points to the IC Pump.
I told the dealer that I had done my research and what my findings were. Got a call last night saying they thought the Pulse Module was the problem and that it might also be related to the Heated Seat on the driver side not working.
It seems strange to me that an engine component and an interior component would reside on the same controller/module, but it's been a while since I worked in the auto industry.
Anyone know if this is reality?
Also, they're claiming that the custom wheels and tires might affect the Tire Pressure Monitoring system (got a couple false alarms the first week). Tire pressure at 36psi all the way around.
Thoughts? Thanks! Just want to make sure these guys aren't barking up the wrong tree.
Cheers,
AL

IC Pump problems should not have anything to do with heated seats. That's ridiculous. When the pump went on mine, I printed out a couple of the detailed threads from this forum and gave them to the dealer. It took them two test drives for the problem to manifest because they did not let the car heat up enough the first time.
Not sure what you mean by custom wheels and tires. Tires should not have any effect on TPMS. But the sensors are matched to each other and to the TPMS (from what I have read), so changing them or the rims could cause the sensor to be activated. I have no problems with my SRT6 but the icon has been lit for two years on my roadster and I check the TP regularly. I figure it's just a bad sensor and not worth fixing until I replace the tires and find out if Discount Tire can rebuild them.

Goldwing,
Discount tire will rebuild the TPMS sensors in the rims. However, they do
charge for the service. At least, the shop here in Georgia did.
I agree, it is a stretch that the module responsible for controlling boost
would double as the controlling module for the heated seats. But, I've
seen stranger things. I think I'd take that car back to the shop and ask
for a real technician.

I just wanted to make sure this Pulse Module could exhibit the same SuperCharger symptoms that a failing IC Pump does. Thanks for the feedback.
Unfortunately, due to lack of experienced techs and required parts at the dealership, I'm stuck without my SRT-6 until NEXT Friday. Yes, that's a week and a day from now (plus the two days I've been without it already). Despite the fact that they sold me a faulty car, they're now concerned about giving it back to me in this condition. <chuckle>
Can't blame them from a liability perspective...but I just got the damn thing and I want it back! This little rental matchbox car thing I'm driving isn't cutting it! <grin>
Bah.
Looks like the heated seats are now working despite them not working the first week I had the car. Gonna have to fight that one, I suppose. They can't get the temp sensor to fail, which it probably does 20% of the time. Will have to take some photos of it at minus 33 degrees I guess.
At least all this is under warranty!
Cheers,

Hey billvp,
The ambient temp sensor. It's fine 80% of the time, but 20% of the time it's ready sub-zero temperatures. Just annoying more than anything.
So...I'm supposed to pick the car up tomorrow. I'm told they replace the IC Pump and Pulse Module in order to resolve the SuperCharger issues. They're also replacing a faulty tire pressure sensor.
They say the heated seat is working, haven't tried it yet. Annoying. They also can't get the temp sensor to fail. So, 2-out-of-4 problems being addressed.
