Default Air Fuel Analysis

Hey guys I finally got a air fuel gauge installed and I got my fiance' to try and record while I did a 0-70mph run, it was around 45 degree's outside what do you think of the numbers?

Run 1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAMS6Uyc2vg

Run 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBEHcTxkJ3Q

The numbers are a little higher, before she was recording I was consistantly getting high 11-mid 12 AFR when I got to around 90mph. So far so good I think.

Looks like you're on the border, but might not be too bad since you are in the cold air like that. For the most part in the upper RPM range you are right around 12.6 which is OK, but right one the edge of a little lean.

If you have a safe place to do it (dyno or closed track optimally), you should really record 3rd gear and even 4th if possible. There's more load in those gears and you may find you run leaner in them. My guess is you may see 13.x in those, and that would be too lean.

Just my .02

john 70 mph isnt fast enough. you need to run thru the gears at wot and see what you have. 3rd gear and 4th gear wot will tell you how lean you are

Hey Steve I got up to 90mph when my Fiance wasn't in the car and the air fuel was very low 12s high 11s I'm going to test again tonight and see if anything changes, by the way that's heaps for the email steve.

And Johnny it does seem to be at the limit but atleast I know I'm getting everything out of the car, I'll do a few more tests and if all is well I won't retune straight away as I dont usually go over 60mph anyway police are extremely strict in my state lol

Seems pretty safe....there is a fine line between optimum performance and melting a ring land. 12.2 - 12.4:1 is a good number to short for at your boost levels.

Thanks man I think part of the reason my air/fuel ratio is sort of safe is because I went from having the dual intake to a single, so the single intake with the intake manifolds seems to be doing okay for now.

By the way how's your beast going? is it still turbo'd?

Steve the mani's are the reason Im running the single now lol, when I removed my dual needswings intake to install the mani's, I had them on the floor of the garage next to my car and my fiance' accidently drove her BMW X3 on them and crushed them where the silicone Y pipe was, I was abit short on cash so I ordered a single pipe from Rob for the time being, down the track I'll get the pipe for the other side!

but my bad I should have mentioned that!!! on a side note performance doesnt seem to be that different, not according to the butt dyno anyway!

hahahah I wish steve! part of the reason that I couldn't afford a dual intake right away was because most of my spare cash is going to Tiffany & Co. for her christmas presents

+ 1 on the unauthorized driving though, she's banned from the garage LOL

In those temps most on here would be in the 13's or higher. That's very good. Monitor it when your at 70 degrees and you will see a difference. Sorry to hear about the dual's, but glad you got the mani's on.
