Default Intake manifold gaskets

I want to do some port matching and clean up the ypipe and throttlebody before I make a run on the dyno. I will be testing my A/F so want to get the best run so I can give the info to the tuner. My question... I don't have replacement gaskets yet, not until I get my catch can, so can the original gaskets be reused for a few weeks?

in short NO. they get cooked in no time. when i installed my catch can i encountered all sorts of air leaks by reusing the old gaskets. rob sent me a new set and all the issues dissapeared.
if you are getting robs cork gaskets i have a spare setyou can have and just replace them when the corks come in. i order them 2 at atime now so i always have a set!

but your there and I am here. I need to find a way to you, I guess. Maybe I will just do the clean up and save the port matching until I have the gaskets.

Well I did some work on the TB and think I screwed up the plate. I tapered the entrance hole to accomodate flow better and pulled the plate off to taper it also. Well i tapered the front side top and bottom(idiot). So now the bottom doesn't seal properly. I had made sure I didn't mess with the diameter by filling to much of the edges off, but didn't take the time to realized that it being on a slant, the plate seals on the front side of the bottom and the back side of the top.

I took it for a spin and throttle response was better but while sitting at a light the rpms start to rise and car jumps into limp mode. i pull over, shut car off and check what I can, restart and everything is fine for a bit, until i sit at another light, and same thing. I cruise to the local AutoZone and get the codes for throttle position sensor and higher than normal idle.

I feel like such a novice when I do things before thinking them out properly. I pulled the neg off the battery and will pull the throttle body off again to see if I can correct the plate any.

I am having a hard time with this being my problem. For instance, with carbs you can drill a hole into the throttle plate to level out the A/F adjustment if you have more fuel and need more air than the screws allow. i am curious if the ECU will correct this any or if the plate has to seal completely due to vacuum readings? Someone please give me some pointers, or advice or anything that will make this go well for me, lol.

jason you will need to replace the butterfly plate. maybe this one would work i dont know check and see
MERCEDES BENZ THROTTLE BODY - USED - eBay (item 190441195768 end time Jan-05-11 03:18:15 PST)

you can also contact maxbore and send your unit to them to be bored out to 78 mm. they will then make a new butterfly for the new diameter bore. cost 125$ plus shipping.
lastly maybe rudy has a spare t/b plate he would be willing to part with. shot in the dark.
anyway you go your ride prolly shouldnt be driven until the plate is replaced

Well I went and flipped and turned the plate so that it sealed better. I may have had it wrong in the first place, lol. I ut everything back together and let it warm up to temp, reving it so often and pumping the brakes to vary the vacuum a bit. No problems so far. Tomorrow will be the deciding factor when I go to work, but I think it may be ok. The last time I tried to do a throttle reset it acted up on me too, and it corrected when I did a battery disconnect/ system reset.... crossed fingers.

Steve, that throttle body bore sounds like a cool idea either way. Nice price for a little upgrade. Wonder if anyone has tried them before. Thanks for replying. I will update to confirm the results. I still feel like a dumbass, lol.
