Oil Leak ?
So, I was about to do my first oil change from purchasing the car from Frank(Never Enough). Took into my buddies shop to get a routine oil change. He called me over and we went to look under the car and their was oil everywhere! I mean seeping down onto the skid plate, water pump, pulley's, etc. Most of it had been dried up from the heat, but lately I have been smelling burned oil and I thought it was from the water since its been raining non stop here. Anyways, he was telling me it looks like its the seal from the oil filter housing that it was tightening really tight.
I hit up Frank since he is more knowledgeable and said that if its the sealant ring changing the oil will fix it. He said the oil filter comes with all new seals and are pretty delicate and rip easy. I do drive the car hard at times, so I'm not sure if its because of that.
Anyways, the oil level is good we checked it. Just wondering if any of you SRT owners have had this issue? I'm going to bite the bullet and take it into Chrysler for a $120 oil change to make sure its done right and I guess make sure nothing else is wrong with the car.
TIA.

Also many people have put the O'rings in the wrong spots when replacing the filter. This is possibly what happened to you. You can get the crush washers too if you're so inclined. 3 for $2 I think.

DTMenace it appears it depends on the dealer and location. The MB dealer I take my cars to for work and service was very polite when I asked about serving my Xfires. He said they only service cars with a star on them. I thought this was a good response. You are correct on the experience. Chrysler could learn something from them.
I take my car to the MB dealership for everything but warranty work. I have a clean showroom to walk around in with polite employees and a comfortable waiting room for a few minutes while waiting on a shuttle car.
The local DCJ dealer had me waiting over 2 hours to pile into a van and take me home.
I'll gladly pay the extra $10 and be treated like a kind while knowing that my car is being worked on by someone who has worked on the c32 engine.
Sorry for the rant. Hope your oil change works out!

How do you guys get Mercedes to work on your cars? The dealer here in Albuquerque, NM pretty much scoffed at me saying they cannot work on Crossfires even though he knows it's a Mercedes (Was a little surprised since it was a slow day too). You think slipping the service manager some cash might help?
Also, I've been using really generic copper washers when I do oil changes since I can't find "crush washers". Any idea where I can get them online?

My XF is still in NY, but eventually it's going to Florida, to Poinciana, which is about 30 minutes South of Disneyworld.
I'm also under Warranty, so if you have a recommended DCJ guy that your (relatively) satisifed with, it's appreciated...
Thanx...
