Default SRT Performance Mods and HP Gains

As a new Crossfire owner, I am interested in installing some mods to my car. I already have the NW single CAI and upgraded pulley. Has someone posted the performance mods and estimated HP gains from these and other components? I'm trying to create a build plan for the future. If you have it, estimated pricing information would be helpful.

It's just better if I read, and keep my thoughts to myself...

This link should help Crossfire Parts, courtesy of The Toy via www.srtconnection.com. Some of the info is out dated but you will be able to connect the dots, if not you know where to find us.

(searched for "hp gains pulley" and had about 20+ good results, this one being quite useful as a starting point)
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...eedswings.html
also
Performance auto parts & aftermarket auto accessories for your car, specializing SRT4, Crossfire SRT6, SLK32, C32 AMG, VR-4
and
Eurocharged Performance and Tuning- Exotic and European Tuning Specialists

the last two are both aftermarket performance companies. Which one you work with is up to the free market, personally I rep NeedsWings, many go EuroCharged, both have good gains, although in terms of intake NW is the most popular. Read that thread I put up, as well as do the same search I did, and you'll find TONS of info. Welcome to the forum if you haven't been welcomed already, I promise we're not snobs, just a group of like-minded individuals .

PS - just a list of numbers pulled from Rob (NeedsWings)'s website:

NW dual CAI - on sale for $800 - up to 35 whp
ASP 178 Pulley - with the pulley saver kit, $1000 - advertised 20 whp, but that's probably a low-ball I'd say a good 30whp without a tune is possible
Engine tune - tons of places, tons of prices - anywhere up to 50 or more hp
NW modified intake manifolds - 1500 - well worth it IMO, better gaskets, and with a tune up to 40+ whp gained.

If you're going all out and want to road race, dont forget cooling modifications as well!

Jobee:

Welcome to the club! As I'm sure you've already figured out, our cars are a lot of fun... but it's always nice to add a little extra umph.

The quickest, simplest route to extra power is a simple three step process:
1) Cold Air Intake (about $500 up to $1,000)
2) Pulley (about $500 up to $1,000)
3) ECU tune ($500)

Keep in mind, those prices are approximate. You might find a group buy, a sale, a home-made intake, or a used part that is a much better deal. But for less than $2,000 you're looking at strapping on 40 or more rear wheel horsepower.

Don't forget to throw in some colder spark plugs while you're at it. Do the ECU tune last, and it is HIGHLY recommended that you do a custom tune on a dyno. It will cost you for the dyno time, but your tune will be much better than a canned tune.

Those three mods are kinda the limit for "cheap" power. You might want to call it Stage 1.

Stage 2 is more complicated, and there is no general consensus on what steps to take. Here's where I went:
1) Intake Manifolds ($1,400)
2) Phenolic Spacers ($100)
3) Polished/Coated Y-pipe ($225)
4) Oversized Heat Exchanger ($450)
5) Separate Engine Coolant from Intercooler Coolant ($65)
6) Good O2 Sensor and monitoring equipment (I can't remember how much - maybe $600)

Mine dyno'd at 353 whp and 353 tq. I need to do some work on sealing up my intake manis and get re-tuned. I should be able to squeak a couple more ponies out of it that way.

There are also other directions to go. Some have gone with NO2 or meth injection. Others have worked on the exhaust. In my opinion, the exhaust mods have always been very expensive compared to the performance they provide.

The BIGGEST advice I can give you is to call Rob @ NeedsWings. (Performance auto parts & aftermarket auto accessories for your car, specializing SRT4, Crossfire SRT6, SLK32, C32 AMG, VR-4) He's a great guy and won't steer you wrong. He's also one of the few suppliers left standing in the SRT-6 mod market.

Hm. Agreed, I may have been overzealous, and we may have misunderstood each other. I'll PM ya, and hopefully we can hash this out like adults. I was being childish, I'll own up to that, I think you just struck a nerve with the "you're not part of the club" thing.

Also, I see that you're in Texas. I believe Eurocharged (www.eurocharged.com) has a affiliates in Houston and Dallas. After you add your pulley and intake, take your car to one of them, and have it dyno tuned.

The other major tuner for our cars in InMotion. I believe he is west coast, but he offers a "do it yourself" tune, where he sends you the equipment to plug into your car, and you load the tune that he sends you. I'm sure he would probably work with a dyno as well. Contact him for more info. www.inmotionusa.com

Personally, I don't have great things to say about either tuner. But those two are the primary tuners for our cars, mainly due to pricing. You can contact RENNtech if you have a couple extra thousand $$$ laying around. You may want to contact Accelerated Industries. They've been working with a tuner on some sweet V8 conversions. So they may have a line on an alternative to Eurocharged and InMotion. Don't get me wrong, most of the SRT-6 guys here have been tuned by Eurocharged or InMotion and are happy. I just felt they were both lacking in customer service - not in tuning ability.

Tom, what mods do you have to do a 12.5, and is that consistent? Usually everybody has mods in their sig, so sorry for being nosy, lol.

Any kind of pulley, an engine tune, and a CAI will (generally) get you into the mid 12's with a good launch consistantly. It's farrrrr too easy in these cars, lol.

All you'll need is a tune and you'll be good for mid to low 12's in the 1/4.

I used to list my mods in my sig, and then I thought it just started to look too cluttered.

Anyway, here's what I have:
Code3 Pulley (original size)
Needswings Single-sided Cold Air Intake
Needswings Intake Manifolds
Needswings polished/coated Y-pipe
Needswings SuperCooler with coolant separation
6mm Phenolic Spacers
Eurocharged custom tune
Zeitronix wideband O2 sensor and datalogger
DashDAQ ODBII reader/logger/display
ET Street drag slicks

I'm probably missing something, but those are the big things. With those mods I should be able to get low 12's in the quarter mile. But I've been having trouble blowing gaskets between the intake manis and phenolic spacers, and I'm leaking boost. I ended up taking the phenolic spacers out, but still had leak issues, and without the spacers my air charge temps soar, also sapping power.

There actual headquarters is now in Houston. Even better!

Thanks Tom, this is what I was looking for. What you outlined below is how people looking to modify their SRT's think. Sort of how you would tune your car in a video game. I do realize that all of the information you outline below is outlined in bits and pieces on the forum, but I was looking for that matrix that can help me understand the best cost/benefit ratio. I'll be reading more on the forum and creating a matrix of the Product/Gain/Price to help others.

I'm headed to Houston next weekend to have Eurocharged dyno tune my car. I'll post the results.
