I meant regarding the shop's reccomendation to install an entire new SC. If a mechanic reccomends major mechanical work like that when the issue is a $150 pump, they are hosing people.

My money is on the IC pump, but gentlemen, don't forget the heat sensor does go bad as well, which will cause the same problem. As for the garage telling you this stuff, I would recommend you copy these posts, after you fix the problem by replacing the pump, whether stock bosch, or a CM30 Johnson pump, or even a Ford Lightening pump will work...I like the Johnson....anyway, print this out and take it to them...and tell them Chrysler nor MB ever supported this car, and if they want to work on them, then they need to come to the only experienced web site about this car. They can learn right here....Crossfire School consisted of buying a Miller tool box with all the tools they would need to work on the car, but not the experience or trouble shooting tools....

what the other poster was referring to was the s/c clutch. if it fails the dealer recommended repair is to replace the entire s/c

That's interesting, the heat sensor, i haven't thought about that one. Good to know that. But i don't think it is the sensor, my baby seems to feel a little warmer than usual when i open the hood after 20 mins+ of driving. I'm dropping my car at a master mech tomorrow evening, i'm confident in this guy. I'll let you all know as soon as i do. This problem has gone on way too long.

When the pump fails, and heat is generated, there is a sensor that tells the SC to shut down. Mine went bad. They replaced the pump, and it wasn't the pump. It was the sensor. Not a common problem, but a real problem for me, when I was convinced right here it was the pump....lol....good luck, and keep us informed.

It has been fixed! for about $300 buckaroos, my baby is running normal again.
It was the intercooling pump for sure.
Now its time to focus on some MODS

Next problem I have, I'm definitely coming to the XF forums FIRST!

Thanks to all,
Colby
